The defect: Yamaha is recalling certain model year 2011 XC50A (Vino Classic) motorcycles manufactured from April 2011 through August 2011. Due to improper adhesion, the brake shoe linings may separate from the front and rear brake shoes.
The risk: If the brake shoe linings separate, the brake performance could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front and rear brake shoes, free of charge. The recall began on October 4, 2013. Owners may contact Yamaha at 1-800-962-7926.

Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
