The vehicle started sputtering and the engine shut off in traffic, I was able to pull to the side of the road. Had I been on the interstate and not a 2 lane road I would have run a high risk of becoming an obstacle to traffic and being hit. Upon later inspection inside of the ignition starter / kill switch assembly on the right hand handlebar there was a small piece of plastic that had broken off causing the ignition circuit to become disconnected killing the engine. No warning lights came on to provide any indication of an issue. I did not take the vehicle to a dealer and opted to repair the fault myself.
