2010 Yamaha XV1900 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THESE MOTORCYCLES INCLUDING THE YAMAHA STRATOLINER, ROADLINER, AND RAIDER, ALL HAVE THE SAME ENGINE. THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED IN A RESERVE TANK UNDER THE SEAT. THE PUMP ITSELF IS INSIDE OF A PLASTIC HOUSING THAT CRACKS (APPARENTLY IN A PRETTY SPECIFIC AREA) AND CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC LOSS IN FUEL PRESSURE WHICH YIELDS HARD STARTING, ROUGH RUNNING UNDER LOAD OR STEADY THROTTLE (DECEL BACKFIRING POPPING AND SNAPPING ALSO) AND BIKE WILL DIE WHILE IDLING OR, IN MY CASE, WHILE RIDING DOWN THE ROAD IN TRAFFIC. I WAS LUCKY THAT I MADE I HOME. YAMAHA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND NOW THEY HAVE A NEW MODEL NUMBER 1D7-13907-01-00 WHICH SUPERSEDES 1D7-13907-00-00. BUT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IN EXSITING FUEL PUMPS.
