2011 Yamaha Zuma 125 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

ZUMA 125 STALLED AT A RED LIGHT IN A LEFT TURN LANE WITH THREE LANES ON EITHER SIDE OF ME, PUTTING ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION. AT THE TIME I HAD ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION AND DID NOT TRY TO RIDE IT AGAIN TILL THE FALL. ALL THROUGH WINTER AND SPRING I WENT WITHOUT PROBLEMS, BUT AGAIN THIS MAY IT STARTED TO ACT UP. IT WOULD NOT START IF PARKED IN THE SUN, AND WOULD OFTEN STALL IF IDLING AT A LIGHT, AFTER WHICH IT WOULD NOT START (OFTEN LEAVING ME IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC). I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THIS PROBLEM TO DIAGNOSE IT, SO THEY JUST PREFORMED SOME ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION, THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FUEL PUMP ISSUE. YAMAHA WAS CONTACTED BUT DENIED THE CLAIM BECAUSE OF MILEAGE. AT THIS TIME I HAVE NOT MADE THE REPAIR AS IT DOES NOT SEEM COST EFFECTIVE. A 4 YEAR OLD SCOOTER WITH JUST OVER 10000 MI SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM!
