The risk: A cable step that fails during use increases the risk of injury.
The remedy: Altec will provide owners with instructions to inspect the cable crimps. If the cables are improperly crimped, Altec will provide instructions and a kit to replace the wire rope assemblies. Repairs will be performed free of charge. (Altec) is recalling certain 2003-2019 Altec TA45, TA50, TA55, TA60, L37, L39, LRV, LR7, A-T40C, T40P and AP45 vehicles equipped with air-cushioned pintle hitch and/or accessory air components. The accessories utilizing chassis air supply may be missing pressure protection valves. The accessory lines may not prevent service brake line pressure loss due to failure or leakage in the accessory air system. Additionally, the air cushioned pintle hook may have been connected to the incorrect air lines. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The risk: Loss of service brake pressure can increase the risk of a crash.

The risk: If the fasteners fail, the pedestal may separate from the turn table, increasing the risk of injury.

This towing combination was shipped without a placard that provides the maximum allowable towing limit, possibly resulting in the receiver tube being overloaded.
The risk: An overloaded receiver tube could detach, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and provide them with a placard that states the limit of the receiver tube assembly as 600lbs vertical load, and 6,000lbs towing capacity, free of charge. Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
Safety investigation
NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
