The defect: Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2020-2021 D2000, 3000, and 4000 Derrick diggers. A retaining ring in the gearbox assembly was improperly seated during production, allowing the boom to unintentionally rotate freely.
The risk: Unintended boom movement increases the risk of injury.
The remedy: Altec will repair the gearbox assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 3, 2021. Owners may contact Altec's customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 827.

Altec has learned that when the coolant-style oil heater on certain AH75B/85B100B aerial devices built from April 2021 to August 2022 is active, the operator has to turn off the engine in order to disengage the power take-off (PTO). Replacement of a wiring harness in the pedestal is required to resolve this issue.
