The defect: Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2018-2020 EC505 6S+3S and EC655 6S+6S vehicles. The load holding grip of the grapple tines may loosen, resulting in a loss of load control.
The risk: Loss of load control may increase the risk of death or injury.
The remedy: Altec will notify owners, and dealers will install a counterbalance valve with a lower pressure ratio to increase the opening threshold, free of charge. The recall began October 20, 2020. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is CSN 773.

EQUIPMENT; WHEELS

Altec has learned that the fender rubber on certain units built from July 2020 to October 2020 can become detached from the wheel well fender cutout of the utility body. Altec recommends that all fender rubber be inspected using the inspection procedure described in the SIL. If the installed fender rubber does not pass inspection, order and install the Fender Rubber Replacement Kit. If the fender rubber passes the inspection, complete the Inspection Sheet at the end of this document. No additional inspections are required.

STEERING

Altec has discovered that the EZ Trac hydraulic all-wheel drive (AWD) system may have been improperly installed on some units. Incorrect steering adjustments can cause the front wheels to oversteer. This can damage the steering stop bolts, causing the tires to rub on chassis components. Incorrect hydraulic hose routing can subject the hoses to damage. This can cause fluid leakage, resulting in the loss of AWD assistance. Altec requires the following actions to be performed on the affected units no later than 30 days after receiving the SIL. - Inspect the EZ Trac system using the Inspection Procedure provided in the notification. - Have Altec make any required repairs.
