The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE BATTERY (YTX24HL) COULD FAIL DURING OPERATION.
The risk: THE BATTERY FAILURE CAUSES THE MOTORCYCLE ENGINE TO STOP SUDDENLY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THESE BATTERIES. THE RECALL BEGAN SEPTEMBER 1, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT AMERICAN IRONHORSE AT 1-817-665-2074.

The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES EQUIPPED WITH OPTIONAL BRAKE ROTOR-CARRIERS,THE ROTOR-CARRIERS CAN CRACK WHILE IN SERVICE AND POSSIBLY BREAK.
The risk: THIS CAN CAUSE A PARTIAL LOSS OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM OR THE POTENTIAL FOR ROTOR-CARRIER DETACHMENT, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ROTOR-CARRIER ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 26, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT AMERICAN IRONHORSE AT 1-817-665-2045.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 AMERICAN IRONHORSE LEGEND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL HANDLE BAR WAS SPLIT ON BOTH SIDES. THE WIRES WERE VISIBLE THROUGH THE CRACKS. THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT MAKE A REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,960 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,100. UPDATED 10/18/07 *TR
