THIS PE WAS OPENED ON THE BASIS OF 6 OWNER ALLEGATIONS CONCERNING REAR WHEEL SPOKE BREAKAGE WITH RESULTING REAR TIRE INNER-TUBE PUNCTURING.NO CRASHES WERE OR HAVE BEEN ALLEGED.AFTER GATHERING INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS ISSUE FROM SUBJECT VEHICLE OWNERS, TRIUMPH DEALERS, AND TRIUMPH MOTORCYCLES LTD, WE FIND NO DEFECT TREND CURRENTLY EXISTS CONCERNING THIS SUBJECT.SHOULD CIRCUMSTANCES CHANGE AS A RESULT OF OUR CONTINUED MONITORING, WE WILL TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION.THE CLOSING OF THIS INVESTIGATION DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A FINDING BY NHTSA THAT NO SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT EXISTS.THE AGENCY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE FURTHER ACTIO IF WARRANTED BY THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

The contact owns a 2004 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle equipped with Continental Tires, Tires Line: Contigo, Front Tire Size: 100/90/19, DOT Number: H86N5VDE; Rear Tire: 130/80/17, DOT Number: H669VDE. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22T006000 (Tires) and submitted a recall repair request form to the manufacturer; however, the manufacturer denied the request and advised the contact that the tires were in good condition based on the photos he had submitted. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The tires were not replaced. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
