2009 BMW R 1200 R US Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

ENGINE RANDOMLY (SO RANDOM I CANNOT RECREATE) STALLS AT ANY ALTITUDE BUT MORE SO AT HIGH ALTITUDE BY SIMPLY PULLING IN THE CLUTCH LEVER. THIS CONDITION IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY HAZARD AND COULD INVOLVE REAR END COLLISIONS OR OTHER. BMW HAS NOT RESPONDED TO DEALERSHIP OR MYSELF WITH A FIX FOR THIS CONDITION. THIS COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO A 2009 K1300GTG BUT CONTINUED SUBMISSION UNDER DIFFERENT MODEL BECAUSE WEBSITE WOULDN'T PERMIT CONTINUING UNLESS A KNOWN MODEL WAS SELECTED FROM THE DROP DOWN MENU. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
