The defect: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2014-2017 R1200RT Police motorcycles. While being used in a special operating mode, the brake lights on these motorcycles may not illuminate when the brakes are applied. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk: If the brake light does not illuminate, other drivers may not know that the motorcycle is stopping, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will update the motorcycle's software, free of charge. The recall began October 12, 2017. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

ACSM fault code "930A60 - Seat occupancy detection, front passenger; malfunction" is stored. The fault may or may not currently be present. Or 2. ACSM fault code "930A1C - Front passenger seat occupancy detection transmitting fault(moisture)" is stored. The fault may or may not currently be present.

The discontinuation of 3G cellular communication for Combox, TCB 3G and ATM 3G (Telematics ControlModule) can no longer be supported by the cellular network provider starting February 2022. The decision to phase out 3G network technology was made at the discretion of the respective cellular carriers and lies beyond the control of BMW. Due to the phase-out, BMW Assist and ConnectedDrive services will no longer be supported after this date.
