2012 Braunability Dodge Wheelchair Van Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

TRIED TO SET UP APPOINTMENT WITH MOBILITY WORKS, MY LOCAL BRAUNABILITY REPRESENTATIVE WHEN I WAS TOLD THE THEY COULDN'T SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR TIME AND PARTS. SO I CALLED BRAUNABILITY THEY IN TURN TOLD ME NOT TO CALL BACK, THEY WOULD SCHEDULE AND NOTIFY ME. NOW THAT ALMOST A YEAR HAS PASSED I RECEIVE A " SECOND NOTICE" ENCOURAGING ME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL THAT THEY WOULD NOT SCHEDULE LAST YEAR

THE 5.7 HEMI ENGINE IN THIS DODGE RAM 1500 IS FATALLY FLAWED IN THE VALVE TRAIN, LEAVING FAMILIES STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN BAD WEATHER. THE CAM ROLLERS DO NOT GET PROPER LUBRICATION AT IDLE, CAUSING THEM TO LOCK UP AND DESTROY THE CAMSHAFT. THE LIFTERS AND VALVE SEATS ARE ALSO DEFECTIVE, CAUSING THE VALVE SEATS TO FALL INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER, DAMAGING THE PISTONS AND LOSING COMPRESSION. THE MDS SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY FLAWED AS CYLINDERS THAT TURN OFF TO INCREASE FUEL ECONOMY DO NOT TURN BACK ON WHEN MORE POWER IS REQUIRED. ALL IN ALL, THIS A TOTAL FAILURE AS AN ENGINE DESIGN AND CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT AS THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS, PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURES AT LOW MILEAGE. YOUTUBE IS FULL OF ATTEMPTED REPAIRS WITH NUMEROUS EXPERIENCED MECHANICS STATING THAT THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO FAULTY PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER, CHRYSLER KNEW WHAT IT WAS DOING WHEN THEY INSTALLED SUB-STANDARD LOW-QUALITY PARTS IN THESE ENGINES. THEY WERE AWARE THEY WERE PUTTING FAMILIES AT RISK AND DID IT ANYWAY TO MAXIMIZE PROFIT AT THE EXPENSE AND DANGER OF THE CONSUMER. I ASK THAT YOU INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, AS MANY HUNDREDS OF DODGE CUSTOMERS ARE SHACKLED WITH USELESS VEHICLES THEY PAID TOO MUCH FOR AND HAVE HAD CATASTROPHIC.ENGINE FAILURES, RENDERING THE VEHICLES WORTHLESS, UNREPAIRABLE, AND UNDRIVEABLE. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF PROFIT BEFORE THE RIGHTS OF THE CUSTOMER, AND CHRYSLER IS FULLY AWARE OF THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING ON THIS ENGINE, THE 5.7 HEMI. PLEASE INITIATE AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL. I AM ATTACHING A $4577REPAIR BILL THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM WRITING THIS FOR MY DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW [XXX] WHO BOUGHT THIS TRUCK. THEY SPENT EVERY CENT THEY COULD BORROW OR SAVE TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE WHICH NOW IS JUNK. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
