2000 Buell M2 Cyclone Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 3 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2000 Buell M2 Cyclone. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

2000 BUELL M2 CYCLONE FAILURE OF PRIMARY CHAIN ADJUSTOR CAUSED INSTANT SEIZER OF DRIVE TRAIN. VEHICLE IS TORN DOWN FOR INSPECTION NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. A QUICK SEARCH OF THE INTERNET REVEALED THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON FAILURE. BUELL MOTOR COMPANY HAS DISCONTINUED THE ORIGINAL ADJUSTER AND NOW SUPPLIES AN UPDATED COMPONENT. WHEN I CONTACTED BUELL MOTOR COMPANY I WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE I WOULD NOT RECEIVED ANY SUPPORT. *NM

I CONTACTED DEALER FOR INFORMATION ON THE RECALL AND RECIEVED NO INFO RELATING TO BEING ABLE TO SAFELY CONTINUE TO OPERATE (IT BEEN OVER A MONTH SINCE THE RECALL) THE MOTORCYCLE OR STOP RIDING IT, THE DEALER RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY HAD THE SAME INFO I WAS SENT REF. THE RECALL AND THEY HAD NO IDEA OF THE SAFETY FACTOR. THEY MADE NO ATTEMPT AT THAT TIME TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER FOR FURTHER INFO. I TRIED 4 TIMES TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER VIA PHONE WITHOUT RESULT; I EVEN WENT SO FAR AS TO LET THEM PICK A TIME TO CALL ME BACK (I LEFT A MESSAGE VIA VOICE MAIL FOR THEM ON THEIR CUST.SERVICE LINE) SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WAIT AT HOME WHICH I DID FOR 3 HOURS ONE DAY FOR A CALL BACK. ALL I WISH IS INFO ON WHETHER OR NOT IT'S SAFE TO RIDE AND WHEN THE PRODUCT WILL BE REPAIRED-IT'S ALREADY BEEN 1 1/2 MONTHS-I THINK IT REASONABLE TO RECIEVE THIS INFO-COULD YOU PLEASE HELP ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS? BUELL HAS NO E-MAIL-ONLY A TOLL LINE.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
