Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component
Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Cadillac Dts, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
2007 Cadillac DTS has been giving me problems with leaking water from either the moon roof or roof itself near driver's door.the floor gets soaked with water and has caused a part called a yaw under the seat to short the wiring out and had to be replaced because it controls the tail lights and tail lights and brake lights were staying stationary when driving so car behind me has no indication whether brakes are being applied.i replaced the yaw but the roof is still leaking and it could happen again and could cause the floor to rot out from repeatedly getting wet when raining.i feel this is a serious safety concern and should be fixed by Cadillac.
Was backing out of my parking space and the warning icons on my dash,(Service brake system, stabiltrack, traction control.4 years ago I had to replace a (yaw) that goes under the driver's seat because moonroof is leaking so I sealed the roof.the yaw controls the stabiltrack.i took it to a auto parts store to get diagnosed and it says speed sensor or possibly a wheel hub.ive owned cars for 50 some years and never had this problem.the car only has 110,000 miles.iam tired of problems related to this issue as I said first was yaw ,now hub for car.there must be other owners that have had this problem.this is supposed to be a luxury automobile and miles aren't high.

Vehicle's brakes stopped working. Could push the brake pedal to the floor without almost no effect. I removed the driver's side front wheel and discovered the brake line was almost completely severed and fluid had sprayed out all over the wheel well. Not sure if this was a defect in design or someone had intentionally cut the line.

WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE OWNER TOLD ME THE POWER STEERING WAS BAD AND THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT. THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO GET INSPECTED SO I COULD GET IT TITLED, IT FAILED THE INSPECTION DUE TO A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING HIGH PRESSURE LINE, THE REAR THIRD BRAKE LIGHT BEING BROKE, THE TOP MOTOR MOUNT FAILING AND BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK WHEEL BEARINGS BEING WORN. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE OWNER GOT IN MY FACE AND SHOVED ME MAKING ME LEAVE.

WHEN I CALL ON STAR FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT IF WAS IN AN ACCIDENT THE CAR AIR BAGS WOULD NOT PROTECT ME LIKE THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO.I WAS DRIVING TO THE NEXT TOWN OVER FROM MY HOMETOWN ON HWY 8O EAST.
I'M GETTING AN SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD DISPLAY AT ALL TIMES AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AT A STAND STILL AND IN MOTION I'M AFRAID THAT MY AIRBAGS ARE GOING TO BLOW AT ANYTIME I'M AFRAID OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.

THE FRONT HEATED/COOLED SEATS WERE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, WHILE DRIVING, SINCE JANUARY 2017. TWO WEEKS AGO THEY STOPPED ALTOGETHER. UPON INVESTIGATION I HAD TO REMOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT IN ORDER TO INSPECT THE CONTROL MODULE. I FOUND TWO WIRES BURNED AND THE LARGE PLUG STUCK IN THE CONTROL MODULE PIN AREA. I'M WAITING ON SOME PARTS BEFORE I CAN PROCEED WITH THE POSSIBLE REPAIR. THERE SHOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL TO HAVE GM REPAIR THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER. IT IS DEFINITELY A FIRE HAZARD. THE NUMBER ON THE CONTROL MODULE IS 100-1325-F. THERE MAY BE ANOTHER SPECIFIC NUMBER BUT I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ON THE INTERNET.
AFTER RESEARCHING MY HEATER/COOLER PROBLEM IN MY SEATS I FIND THE CADILLAC NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM THAT HAS EXISTS FOR A LONG TIME AND EVEN AFTER CONSULTING AUTHORIZED CADILLAC DEALESHIPS I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE RUN AROUND BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM! I JUST WANT CADILLAC TO FIX MY CURRENT HEAT/COOLER PROBLEM IN MY SEATS!

Complaint: pertaining to 2007 Cadillac DTS as mentioned above.i purchased this used car with 70,000 miles in 2018.when purchased the first problem was stabiltrack light came on so took it back to dealer to be fixed under dealers 90 day warranty plus brake lights weren't functioning properly.perhaps a year later I had a yaw replaced that controls the stabiltrack.ive been having this stabiltrack since vehicle was purchased as of 05/15/2022 this problem has occurred again and is expensive repair.i feel this is a safety issue because it controls steering in inclimate weather conditions.

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
We purchased this vehicle four months ago and love it except for: 1)There seems to be some kind of tint on the rear view mirror which makes it very hard to see other vehicles at night, especially at dusk before some drivers turn their headlights on. We know to be very careful, but there is a very high risk for an accident. 2)Exhaust fumes enter the vehicle when stopped while the engine is running, made worse by the fact that the vehicle automatically resets to let outside air in even if we push the button to recirculate the inside air. I can’t imagine that this is healthy for anyone: I’ve had to use my inhaler more often. The situation could be life-threatening for some if one had to sit in traffic for an extended period of time.
THIS CAR IS A 2007 AND WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2007 AND GOT A RECALL ON WINDSHIELD WASHER MODULE, WE TAKE IT AND THEY REPLACE A WIRE. NEXT WE GET A RECALL WANTING TO DISABLE AND REMOVE HEATED WINDSHIELD WASHER MODULE. THE RECALL READS LIKE THIS, RECALL INFORMATION RECALL IMPORTANT, OUR PRIORITY IS YOUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION. IT IS NOT OUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION TO TAKE THIS CAR IN AND DISMANTLE IT, AND SO FOR WE HAVEN'T DONE SO AND HAVE NO INTENTION OF DOING SO. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND IT HASN'T BEEN. NOT VERY HAPPY ABOUT THIS. *TR
