Owner-reported complaints naming the brake system, filed with NHTSA
Data refreshed
Brakes reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROAD BRAKES FAILED, HAD TO DOWNSHIFT AND USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP TRUCK. I FOUND OUT AFTER INVESTIGATING, THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED SO BADLY THAT THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE BLEW OUT THE BRAKELINE TO THE FRONT DRIVERSIDE WHEEL. TURNS OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON CHEVY TRUCKS AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL YET !!! DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET HURT OR DIE BEFORE THIS DESIGN FLAW GETS RECALLED? THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS A MAJOR SAFETY COMPONENT OF ANY VEHICLE, WHY IS THE NHTSA NOT ACTING ON THIS? THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACED BEFORE THE TRUCK CAN BE DRIVEN AGAIN. *TR
