2001 Chevrolet Avalanche Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 Chevrolet Avalanche, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THE STALLING OF MY 8.1 L EQUIPPED AVALANCHE, MOSTLY AT IDLE, SUCH AS AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, DRIVE THRU'S, ETC. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS TURNING IN TRAFFIC CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE VEHICLE NOT RUNNING. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WORKED, BUT ONLY RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE STALLING AGAIN, OR RUNNING TILL THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN DRIVE, WHICH AGAIN IT STALLED. IT WAS SEVERAL MINUTES TILL I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE RUNNING. THE VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS RESTARTED RIGHT AWAY WITHOUT PROBLEM, UNTIL THIS LAST OCCURRENCE. I HAVE NOT INFORMED THE DEALER AS OF YET, SO NO ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN REGARDING THIS. *JB
