2007 Chevrolet Equinox Problems
Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component
Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
Fuel leak in fuel tank (on top)
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he began to smell an abnormal fuel odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that after arriving to his destination, he saw fuel leaking from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that the fuel module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V459000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
Dashboard shows service passenger air bag. Yes available for inspection Passenger safety at risk. Not confirmed by dealer Has not been inspected
The airbag on the passenger side of my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS. Has never worked correctly. I purchase my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS coming up on 2 year's ago. Since I purchased my car the passenger side air bag has never worked correctly. Sometimes it would turn on maybe 5% of the time I had a passenge. The 95% it doesn't come on and says service air bag. Now the service air bag is staying on. Chevrolet had a big recall on the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox for 2 or 3 problems with the passenger air bag. I can not afford to pay for this myself. I feel Chevrolet should pay for the fix. I am scared to drive my Equinox because I don't know if it is going to deploy while I'm driving. I had reported this on KKB more then once. I would greatly appreciate some information on how I can make Chevrolet pay for the fix. Thank you for your time
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
started with a broken key, the security system passlock lll+ left me stranded in winter. I got it working temporarily after finding the other part of the key. put it in ignition and then the other half to get it started but didn't always start. apparently this is common on Chevy vehicles.
The ECM in my vehicle appears to have an intermittent failure that can cause it to send the vehicle into WOT at any time at random. I was stopped at a traffic signal. It turned green, I let off the brake and my vehicle learched forward for a second, and then, all of a sudden launched into and hit the vehicle in front of me. I tried to push down the brakes, but they were too stiff, and, no, my foot did not even get a chance to press the gas yet. There was only minor damage to my vehicle, however, the situation was extremely scary. I have since changed out the ECM and have had no issues since. I have seen this issue once before on a similar vehicle, except, what happened with that is the vehicle was in a garage, and the ECM had failed nearly completely and stuck the vehicle in WOT. In my case, I was still able to drive the vehicle home, so the issue appeared to me intermittent. I still have the original ECM for further investigation. As I understand it, this ECM is in thousands of GM vehicles, across multiple lines. GM Part Number: 12611090.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS DRIVING 35 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE BAGS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V344000 (AIR BAGS), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER RYDELL CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 18600 DEVONSHIRE ST #1309, NORTHRIDGE, CA 91324, (866) 802-5628, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAGS CALIBRATION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. *LN*DT CONSUMER STATED FUEL PUMP WAS ALSO RECALLED AND HAD IT REPAIRED WITHOUT KNOWING IT WAS RECALLED. *JB
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
While driving the power steering stopped working. I could still steer manual but was very hard. The service stability light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road turned car off then back on and still wouldn’t work. I decided to drive home with no power steering. Took to a local mechanic and he found that there is a TSB for this issue but is having challenges following the TSB. Due to he needs a “tech2” scanner. He thinks he found a workaround but that web site was down. He still has car and will resume today
I HAD MY REAR BRAKES REPLACED AND THEN A WEEK LATER THE SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP I GOT MY BRAKES REPLACED AT AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR WEEKS AND THEN FINALLY TURNED OFF. NEXT I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS GETTING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND TURN IT OFF AGAIN TO GET THE KEY OUT SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. NOW I DROVE MY CAR AND PARKED AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND THEN I TURNED IT ON A FEW HOURS LATER AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. MY ISSUES ARE THE EXACT SAME AS MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE NOTED AND MY CAR IS NOT PART OF A RECALL, BUT THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILING WITH NO WARNING LIGHT MONTHS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FINE AND REPLACED BRAKES SEEMS ODD. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT TO THE POWER STEERING IN THE EQUINOX THAT'S LEADING TO ERRATIC WARNING LIGHTS, KEY REMOVAL DIFFICULTIES, AND POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GOING OUT. CHEVY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING!
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim

Everytime my vehicle is exposed to water by rain or car wash. It goes into low power mode or limp mode only accelerating to like 30mph. I was told there is water getting somewhere is shouldnt causing a short. Im not the only one with this problem . Ive read on several forums.I was just on the freeway recently and it rained for about 5 minutes here in fresno California which is extremely unusual because it is still summer and the vehicle did this while i was driving. I could've caused an accident i had to pull over and stop driving. I turned off and on the car several times and the low power mode finally went away, and also the service stabilitrak system. Chevy is aware of this problem and they need to fix before somebody gets hurt
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
Front frame rusted out beneath the engine cradle Engine lost support Loud noises when turning wheels or going over bumps Had welding shop cut out rust and weld in new frame areas
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ABS WARNING AND STABILITRAK WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ROSNER CHEVROLET, 800 S HARBOR CITY BLVD, MELBOURNE, FL 32901) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED TO OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THE DOOR WAS OPENED BY PULLING THE WINDOW DOWN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 866-790-5600 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. CASE NUMBER: 8-3496059432 WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE CAR WHEN I DRIVE OVER THE 60 MILES, MAKE AUTO BREAK BY SELF. IS REALLY SCARY.
THIS VEHICLE IS ONE OF SEVERAL THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH WHEEL SPEED AND PSI SENSORS, WHICH THEN CAUSES THE TRACTION CONTROL TO BELIEVE COMPUTER WISE IT HAS NO TRACTION, THEREFORE THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON AND THE COMPUTER SOMETIMES SHUT THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF WHEN IT NEEDS TO BE ON. IT ALSO HAS AIRBAG TROUBLE WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT, ALSO LIKE THE RECALL. HOWEVER, DESPITE THE FACT 2007'S WERE ISSUED THIS RECALL, IT'S SAYING MY 'VIN' DOES APPLY TO THESE RECALLS. FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE WHEN THESE THINGS ARE MESSED UP. JUST WANT GM MOTORS TO AWKNOWLEDGE IT'S POSSIBLE THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS MISMANUFACTURED.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim

LESS THAN 4,000 MILES DRIVEN AFTER I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR. THE HEATER CORE ALSO EXPLODED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO ASSESS THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AROUND 20-25,000 MILES AFTER PURCHASE THE ENGINE COOLANT TEMP GAUGE STOPPED REPORTING TEMPERATURES CORRECTLY AND WOULD REDLINE EVEN IF THE CAR WAS OFF FOR OVER 2 DAYS IT WOULD START UP WAY ABOVE THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. THE FUEL GUAGE NO LONGER CORRECTLY INDICATES HOW MUCH GAS IS LEFT IN THE TANK AND WILL NOT MOVE OFF OF EMPTY EVEN AFTER PUMPING 13 GALLONS INTO THE TANK. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A RED LIGHT WHEN HEATER CORE BLEW OUT. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DURING TRANSMISSION, TEMPERATURE, AND GAS GAUGE FAILURES.
Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE CAR WHEN I DRIVE OVER THE 60 MILES, MAKE AUTO BREAK BY SELF. IS REALLY SCARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WERE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED; HOWEVER, THE DETAILS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
My windshield has hundreds are tack marks all over and it makes it extremely hard to see at night. And I have a huge heat crack on the windshield that is even continuing in summer time.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUMES WERE EMERGING FROM THE DASHBOARD AREA OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO OPEN THE WINDOWS TO AIR OUT THE VEHICLE CABIN. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEACON JONES AUTO GROUP (1115 NORTH BRIGHT LEAF BLVD, SMITHFIELD, NC 27577) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET AND HEATER CORE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 212,998.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. HAD ENGINE CHECK, IT ALWAYS SMELL LIKE GASS IS LEAKING. WHEN DOWN TO 60...70 MILES TO EMPTY. WHEN YOU OPEN THE GAS TANK THERE IS AIR FLOWING OR GAS DRAINING. WHEN THE NOISE STOPS, THEN YOU CAN PUMP THE GAS WITH OUT THE GAS PUMP STOPPING. THE LIGHT AND BLINKERS ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING TO BE REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, THE IGNITION KEY REMAINED STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. IN ADDITION, THE HAZARD LIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE BULBS FOR THE HAZARD LIGHTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE WEEK LATER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
WE BOUGHT OUR SON THIS VEHICLE WHEN HE GOT HIS LICENSE BACK IN SEPT 2019. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR ISN'T WORKING CAUSING THE PASSENGER AIR BAG TO NOT BE SAFELY ENGAGED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL AND REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. ALSO, THERE IS HARDLY ANY HEAT COMING FROM THE BLOWERS. WE HAD IT IN MULTIPLE TIMES BUT NOONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT. WE HAVE REPLACED: HEATER CORE, WATER PUMP, THERMOSTAT, RADIATOR, RESEVOIR. ECT..FLUSHED IT A MILLION TIMES AND HAD THE HEADS PRESSURE CHECKED, NOTHING WORKED. IT GETS VERY LITTLE HEAT WHEN IDLING, AND GIVES "LUKE WARM" HEAT WHEN RPMS INCREASE WHILE DRIVING. LAST WINTER MY SON COULD HARDLY KEEP HIS WINDSHIELD DEFROSTED/DEFOGGED AND ALMOST LOST VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING TO SCHOOL. NOT TO MENTION FREEZING TO DEATH WITH NO ADEQUATE HEAT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR IS DEFECTIVE. THEY WANT OVER $1,000 TO FIX IT. LOOKING ONLINE THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND SOME RECALLS BUT SAYS MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ONE IN THE RECALL. WAS COMING ON AND OFF...NOW OFF ALL THE TIME! I HAVE PAID TO FIX LEAK FROM SUNROOF THAT IS ALSO A COMMON ISSUE....RECALL DID FIX FAULTY FUEL LEAK. HELP PLEASE!
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
"TAKATA RECALL" STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR LIGHTS. NO WARNING FOR BRAKE PROBLEM. THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T STOP OR SLOW THE CAR BEFORE ENTERING A CURVE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY.
I PURCHASED A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX FROM A PRIVATE PARTY BACK IN JANUARY BUT DUE TO A MIX-UP WITH THE TITLE AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER I COULD NOT TITLE THE CAR AND START DRIVING IT UNTIL MARCH. I'VE NOTICED LATELY A STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND A VERY LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP IN MY TOWN AND WAS TOLD I HAD A GAS LEAK AT THE TOP OF THE TANK AND THAT THE SWAY BAR LINKAGE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED . IN DOING MY RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL LEAK ON THE 2007 EQUINOXES AND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SWAY BAR LINKAGE GOING BAD AND THE SERVICE STABLE TRACK LIGHT CONSTANTLY STAYING ON. I ALSO HAVE THE PROBLEM STATING ALL WHEEL DRIVE OFF FLASHING ON MY SCREEN. I FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE PUT THEIR VIN NUMBERS IN THE SEARCH WINDOW AND FOUND THEIRS NOT TO BE PART OF THE RECALL BUT I'M WONDERING WHY IF MORE THAN JUST THE PREVIOUS RECALLED VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WOULDN'T THEY WANT ANOTHER RECALL ISSUED FOR THE ONES THAT HAVEN'T BEEN REPAIRED. I JUST TOOK IT TO A GM DEALER TODAY IN MY HOMETOWN AND THEY WANT OVER $1,400 TO FIX JUST THE FUEL LEAKAGE PROBLEM I NEED TO KNOW WHAT GM IS GOING TO DO ABOUT IT. I DON'T HAVE 1400 EXTRA DOLLARS TO FIX THIS GAS LEAK AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF IT STARTING ON FIRE.
Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
EXTENSIVE WATER INTRUSION IN THE SPARE TIRE WELL. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING MORE OFTEN IN THE LAST YEAR. APPROXIMATELY 4-5 INCHES OF WATER IS FILLING FOLLOWING A RAIN STORM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE CONTINUOUSLY. THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V344000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,283. UPDATED 12/21/12*LJ UPDATED 1/9/2013*JS
Transmission
Reports naming the automatic or manual transmission, including shifting behaviour, shudder, slipping and transmission control modules.
From owner reports, verbatim
TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVATED AT APPROX 50MPH DUE TO WATER ON ROAD. DURING TRACTION SYSTEM OPERATION, THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO A LOWER GEAR, CAUSING PARTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL AND PATH DEVIATION INTO THE ADJACENT LANE. THIS HAS RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *TR
I HAD 2 CHEVY EQUINOX 2007 MODEL, LOADED. FIRST VEHICLE REPURCHASED DUE TO MULTIPLE EPISODES OF STABILITRAK FAILURE, TURN SIGNALS QUIT WORKING, RADIO PROBLEMS, PASSENGER SYSTEM AIRBAG NOT WORKING, AND FINALLY FAILURE OF MAIN AIRBAG SYSTEM. GIVEN EXACT TWIN OF FIRST CAR, AS THOUGHT THAT CAR WAS JUST A LEMON. 2ND EQUINOX HAD 2 EPISODES OF STABILITRAK FAILURE, AND A NEW STEERING COLUMN PLACED, AND THEN HAD TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE OF THE STEERING, BRAKES, GAS, STABILITRAK, AND AIRBAG SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER ANY OF THESE SYSTEMS! YOU COULD TURN MY STEERING WHEEL 360 DEGREES, AND THE WHEELS NEVER MOVED, THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK, THE GAS DIDN'T WORK, AND ALL ALARMS WERE GOING OFF THAT THE SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT WORKING. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED AS I HAD JUST BEGUN MAKING A TURN INTO ROADWAY AND ALL VEHICLES COMING AT ME BOTH WAYS WERE ABLE TO SWERVE, AND THE CAR WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH AND OVER A SLIGHT INCLINE THAT IT ROLLED TO A STOP JUST BEFORE HITTING A STEEL LIGHT POST. THIS CAR WAS ALSO REPURCHASED. SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG IN THE ENGINEERING OF THIS VEHICLE AND I AM CONCERNED FOR ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE OWNING/DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. *TR

Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
I ALMOST GOT KILLED WHEN POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING ALL OF A SUDDEN. NO WARNING AT ALL. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM SHOPPING. GOOD THING THIS HAPPENED TO ME AND NOT MY WIFE SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO CONTROL THE EQUINOX.
NHTSA CAMP # 07V344000, SEAT BELT SENSOR, NHTSA CAMP. # 07V242000 WINDSHIELD MOUNT I HAVE A 2007 CHEVY EQUINOX, MY WINDSHIELD IS LEAKING, AND MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF DEPENDING ON HOW SOMEBODY SITS IN THE SEAT. I WENT TO GOOGLE AND LOOKED UP THE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE. AND THOSE 2 RECALLS LISTED AT THE TOP ARE 2 OF THE PROBLEMS IM HAVING WITH MY EQUINOX. I CALLED CHEVY CORPORATE AND THEY TOLD ME MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. IF MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE ONE WITH THE RECALL, THEY SHOULD EXPAND THE RECALL TO COVER THE REST OF THE VEHICLES AFFECTED.

Heating & air conditioning
Reports naming the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED AIR CONDITIONER IN THE 2007 CHEVROLET EQUINOX WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. ONE COULD NOT SWITCH THE SETTIGNS SO THAT ONE COULD SET THE RECIRCULATE AIR BUTTON. IN ORDER FOR THE RECIRCULATE AIR BUTTON TO WORK THE TEMPERATURE HAD TO BE OVER 40 DEGREES. THE CONTACTWAS CONCERNED BECAUSE HE WAS BREATHING THE CARBON MONOXIDE FROM OTHER VEHICLES. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WASN'T ANY FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE, THAT IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 968 ,AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1050.*AK
