1994 Chevrolet G20 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1994 Chevrolet G20, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES YOU SHOULD HEAR THE ABS PUMP COME ON WHEN STARTING VAN THEN COME ON AGAIN AT ABOUT 7MPH. IT DOES NOT. TOLD DEALER THIS AND THEY SAID THE MANUAL IS WRONG AND THAT THE BRAKES ARE FINE. YEAH, RIGHT. WHEN GOING 55 MPH DOWN HILL VAN WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN UNLESS I HOLD THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN OR USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND COME TO A VERY FAST STOP. AS THIS BEING A FAMILY VAN WE A SCARED TO DRIVE IT. OTHER MECHANICS CAME TO CONCLUSION THE ABS IS AT FAULT. POSSIBLE AIR IN CHAMBERS AND HAS TO BE SERVICED BY DEALER COMPUTER. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH ON AN ICY ROAD, A VEHICLE STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO BRAKE, THE ABS ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT ENGAGE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT. THERE WAS A DRILL-LIKE SOUND WHEN THE BRAKES ARE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT NORMALLY ENGAGE ON WET OR ICY SURFACES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, 99I006000, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES.
