1999 Chevrolet Jimmy Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I GOT THIS CAR IN 2008, AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE THE DATE I GOT IT. I WAS TOLD BY DEALER TOUGH AS IT IS USED. WITH TRADE INS AND MONEY FOR ALL REPAIRS I HAVE DONE THUS FAR TOTAL WELL OVER $10,000 AND I PAID $8900.00 ITS RECENT REPAIR WAS TODAY FRONT WHEEL BEARING, HAD NEW WIRES AND PLUGS PUT IN THINKING THAT WOULD CURE THE SPITTING BUT CAR IS WORSE. I AM HAVING CAT CONVERTER TROUBLES, GAS GAUGE DANCES SO I NEVER KNOW WHEN I AM REALLY RUNNING LOW. I HAVE REPLACE MORE PARTS THAN I CAN COUNT, AND I CAN NOT TAKE IT ANY MORE, BUT YET I NEED A VEHICLE TO DRIVE. I AM RAISING MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER ALONE, AND I WILL NOT ALLOW HER TO DRIVE THIS CAR WHEN SHE GETS PERMIT, SO THERE ARE LESS ODDS OF A WRECK. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PUT ANY MORE MONEY IN THIS CAR BUT WINTER IS COMING SOON, AND I NEED MY 4 X 4 IN GOOD RUNNING ORDER WITH NO ISSUES. I HAVE REPLACED MUCH OF THE WATER SYSTEM, FUEL PUMP, TO MANY PROBLEMS TO MENTION. MY CAR WAS ON A TOW TRUCK ONE MONTH AFTER I GOT IT, AND I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING WITH IT EVER SINCE. YOU KNOW THE SAYING NICKEL AND DIMING, I WISH BUT IN MY CASE IT IS TAKING ME UNDER AND WITH OUT A JOB AND SO FORTH I AM TRAPPED. THIS VEHICLE IS DOLLARING ME NOT NICKEL AND DIMING. *TR

VEHICLE HAD SLUDGE BUILD UP IN THE RADIATOR. DEALER DRAINED THE RADIATOR, AND THE HEAT STOPPED WORKING. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND SLUDGE BUILD UP WAS PRESENT AGAIN. DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS SLUDGE BUILD UP, AND THAT SOMEONE KEPT POURING SOMETHING INTO THE RADIATOR. DEALER STATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES.*AK

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
