2001 Chevrolet S Pickup Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 6 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2001 Chevrolet S Pickup. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. GENERAL MOTORS IS CONDUCTING A RECALL ON 2000-2004 MODEL YEAR FULL SIZED PICKUP TRUCKS BECAUSE OF CORROSION AND FAILURE OF GALVANIZED STEEL TAILGATE CABLES.HE SAME FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON THE TAILGATE CABLES OF MY COMPACT CHREVROLET S-10 PICKUP WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. THERE WAS NO WARNING OR INDICATION OF THIS FAILURE BEFORE IT OCCURRED. HEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE ADVISED ME TO GET A RECEIPT FOR REPAIRS, BUT THAT THEY ARE NOT INCLUDING THE S-10 MODEL IN THIS RECALL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE I WAS STANDING ON THE TRUCK TAILGATE AND BOTH CABLES FAILED AT THE SAME INSTANT CAUSING ME TO FALL TO THE GROUND. NO INJURIES OCCURRED AS A RESULT OF THIS EQUIPMENT FAILURE. I STILL HAVE THE OLD FAILED PARTS.*AK
