CPI FUEL INJECTION UNIT FAILED ALLOWING EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF FUEL TO ENTER ENGINE. A LARGE AMOUNT OF THIS FUEL WAS NOT BURNED IN THE ENGINE AND SENT OUT OF THE ENGINE INTO THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THIS CONDITION POSED A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE OR EXPLOSION ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC. HE HAS SERVICE MANY OF THESE SIMILAR 4.3L CPI ENGINES WHICH HAVE HAD THE SAME FAILURE OF THE CPI FUEL INJECTION UNIT. I AM REPORTING THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE IN ORDER TO PREVENT A SERIOUS INCIDENT IN A VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ENGINE.

THE GAS TANK ROTTED OUT FROM THE OUTSIDE IN. THE GAS TANK EXTENDS BEYOND THE BED OF THE TRUCK. WHEN BULK ITEMS SUCH AS MULCH ARE LOADED THEY FALL ON THE TANK AND BECOME LODGED BETWEEN THE TANK AND THE PLASTIC SAFETY SHIELD.
