Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The engine started making a ticking noise and getting a little louder while driving to dealer where I had purchased the veichle and had it serviced as called for . They had me leave to check it out , they called me 2 hrs later and said it would need a new engine and it had a spun crankshaft bearing and would be 3 weeks to get the new engine . They said my warranty would cover the billing . I’m presently waiting to hear from them . They told me that the new engine would have a warranty but minus the 31615 miles that my odometer reads now ?
While driving interstate speed pulling a trailer on 08/13/25 had a complete loss of power and truck died. Had to merge on-to the shoulder of the interstate with no power. Parked along side of interstate until towing arrived approx. 2 hours after loss of power event. Truck was towed to Husker Chevrolet where the truck was diagnosed with engine failure. There was no warning of this catastrophic event. On 09/11/26 dealership called stating that they replaced the engine, however the new engine expired while pulling it out of the shop. This would be this trucks 2nd engine.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The contact stated that water was coming from underneath the driver’s side dashboard. Additionally, the steering wheel was jerking while the lane assist feature was activated; however, the vehicle was not veering to the left or right side of the lane. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed, and several failure codes were retrieved, and a water test was performed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was repaired; however, while the contact's husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and after selecting the 2WD feature, the 4WD feature was disengaging, even though the 4WD warning light was not illuminated. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Chevrolet of Troy (1375 S Market St, Troy, OH 45373) for a second opinion. The contact was informed that DTC: U1611 was retrieved, and several unknown repairs were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., I was driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Duramax on Highway 40 while towing a properly connected trailer. The Multi-Flex tailgate had been fully closed and latched before I began my trip and had not been opened at any point prior to the incident. While traveling on the highway, a California Highway Patrol officer pulled alongside my vehicle and alerted me that my tailgate was down and bouncing on the trailer I was towing. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder and observed that the entire Multi-Flex tailgate had unexpectedly unlatched and was resting on the trailer. I closed and latched the tailgate, which appeared to operate normally, and continued to my destination. At no time before or during the incident did the vehicle display a "Tailgate Open" warning or any other warning message on the instrument cluster. The unexpected opening of the tailgate caused it to strike the trailer, resulting in damage to the Multi-Flex tailgate, the rear bumper, and the trailer. The vehicle has approximately 11,000 miles, was purchased new, and has not been modified. I have opened a case with General Motors, and the vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
I was traveling at 65 mph when my truck engine shut off, put itself in neutral, asked me to push the start button. And then the screen went black. Would not go into neutral for a tow. Taken to dealer where I purchased it from. Was told that the motor is seized.
My truck (2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LZ0 Duramax 3.0l) started to have problems when driving. At a stop light, I started to accelerate at about 2000-3000 RPM. While doing so, there was a loud ticking/grinding noise coming from the transmission/Bell housing area. On June 2nd, I dropped the truck off with the dealership. I didn’t hear back from them until about a month later (July 3rd) and when I did they said the technician confirmed I needed a new ‘axle actuator’. About a week and a half later, they said it did not fix the issue and started to become more of a problem to where they will need an “engine technician” to see if I need a new engine due to the “crank shaft thrust bearing”. The advisor said he will call me on Wednesday, July 15th to update me on what I will need. I requested a Loaner vehicle since I dropped it off and they said no because the dealer does not provide that and would have to get approval from GM to grant me the loaner vehicle bast off the diagnostic.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
I was driving on the freeway and got a service trailer brake system and a brake system failure 62mph top speed. I exited the freeway and came to a stop sign and hit my brakes to stop but was unable to stop and blew through the stop sign. Luckily there were no cars at the intersection and I was by myself.
All sound goes out on this truck intermittently. Maybe once every 3-4 days. I will have 0 sound, the safety feature sounds, the parking assistance, the directional signal sounds, the stereo. It is not Bluetooth or anything interfering I’ve shut my phone off to test. This happens with MANY people. Most people complain online about the stereo and directional sounds being completely muted, but forget to mention or don’t notice that the parking and collision assistance sounds are out as well. It took me a while to realize. I have video of it happening as well
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
cold starts sometime there is an audible tick, there is also occasional low oil pressure and the gauge drops and returns to the normal range
I have had my vehicle to a GM dealership three times now due to the check engine light coming on and getting an emission warning. 2/13/26 was the first visit. It was right after I filled up my tank with gas that the check engine light came on when I started driving down the road. I got an appointment at a GM dealership. They put the scanner on it and received the codes. They drove it back to the service garage and I went back to work. I received information from them that they could not fix anything because the check engine light had disappeared and there were no codes available anymore. I picked up my vehicle and a week later 2/20/26 the same thing happened after I got gas. The check engine light came on and an emission warning on my Chevy app. I stopped back into the same dealership. And the same thing happened. Scanner, codes, and then they disappeared. The third time I got gas the same thing happened again with the check engine light and emission system warning. This was on 2/28/2026. I went to a different dealership and the exact same thing happened..... scanner, codes received, schedule an appointment to get it in the following week, started the vehicle and pulled out. The check engine light was still on at that time. And the check engine light disappeared once again as I was driving down the road. Each time this has happened I have been able to use my remote start via my Chevy app along with trying to use my handheld key fob remote start. The dealerships have told me this is normal for this type of check engine light emission warning. When researching this issue there are a lot of people experiencing the same thing. Scratching my head wondering why there's not a recall on this.

Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
From owner reports, verbatim
On 3/30/2026, I was driving down the road & suddenly my dash filled with warning lights about brakes, abs etc. Steering the vehicle became almost impossible because power steering was gone. When I attempted to brake, I also found that I had very little braking. The vehicle has 11,036 miles. Got the vehicle to the dealership - Capital Chevrolet from which it was purchased. It has been diagnosed as a major brake failure. Master Cylinder, booster, reservoir, seals etc. Extremely dangerous situation without any early warning signs, lights or notices.
Prior to this incident, I had been having issues with my fuel management system give a “reduced acceleration” warning (codes P0087, P228B) in weather below 28-30F. It was in the shop 3 times prior: first time was “bad fuel”, second had my fuel rail and fuel filter replaced, and third time I had my high pressure fuel pump replaced (also had a rear crank seal leak). While approaching a stop sign, my vehicle gave me a check engine light with a “Reduced Acceleration” warning followed by several other warning messages and then ultimately lost power and shut off give me no ability to steer or brake my vehicle. Luckily, my vehicle came to stop and no crash or injuries occurred. If this had been at higher speeds the outcome could have been fatal to myself or another driver/passenger on the road. This incident also gave me a P0087, P12A6, P228A, and P228B error codes. I was able to restart the vehicle and make it home. The following day, the “Reduced Acceleration” message once again appeared. The vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting diagnosis and repair.

Purchased brand new 2025 reedman toll chevy Springfield pa. Been on going issues with tires been rebalanced 5 times . Shakes when driving. On highway. Been 3 chevy certified dealers still cannot figure whats going on. GM is not helping with this matter at all.
A trailer hitch has an sticker stating the Tow Vehicle Maximum Trailer rating for the hitch. Owner's manual and towing safety stickers on the driver's side door only state the maximum dead weight for a hitch...that is the weight applied if a trailer is attached to the tow vehicle's hitch ball. This sticker give you maximum if a trailer is installed with a weight distribution hitch assembly. On my 2025 Silverado, as well on four other Silverados I viewed at a dealer, and a few GMC Sierras, also viewed at dealers, the sticker is applied; however, impossible to read the specifications supplied by the sticker. I have uploaded two files: One, is the sticker as viewed on a 2016 GMC that is attached to the bottom of the hitch, easy to read and obtain the SAFETY information contained. Second photo is how the sticker is attached to my 2025 Silverado (and as noted on all other vehicles I viewed at dealerships) and as you can see, the specifications are not readable. I even tried a mirror and not enough room for the mirror to fit and allow viewing of the stats. The information on this sticker is required to SAFELY pull a trailer with a weight distribution style hitch assembly. And to require a sticker, but not make as requirement it needs to be legible is ludicrous. Thanks

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
The glass on the driver's side mirror fluctuates when driving at speeds above approximately 35 MPH. It gets more intense the faster the vehicle travels. It's very distracting and also causes the mirror to go out of adjustment. I have had the mirror assembly changed 2 times by the dealer I'm still having the same issue. I filed a complaint with GM. After I filed a complaint the dealer installed ballast on the back side of the glass for counter balance per GM Engineers. That still did not fix the problem. I feel this is a design issue with the mirror. I am not the only owner with this issue.

2025 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, VIN [XXX] , purchased new in April 2025. Total transaction value exceeded $50,000 including trade in of previous vehicle. Has experienced repeated serious electrical failures in under a year and 16,500 miles. Components that failed: Telematics module causing parasitic battery drain, DC/DC converter module, radio, and two complete battery failures. Turn signal was also triggering the high beams to flash, a separate electrical issue repaired under warranty. All components are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: First battery failure occurred in January at 10,000 miles while traveling in the desert with my wife and infant son. We were stranded with no Chevrolet dealer accessible. Second battery failure occurred at 16,500 miles. A failed DC/DC converter module was discovered immediately after the latest round of repairs when the dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights and a check engine light the same day I picked up the vehicle. I drive this truck daily for work and transport my young child in it regularly. Repeated unexpected failures create a serious and ongoing safety risk. Confirmed by dealer: Yes. George Chevrolet confirmed and attempted repairs on the telematics module, DC/DC converter module, and radio. All failures documented on official repair orders. Warning lamps: Yes. Multiple warning lights and check engine light appeared immediately upon pickup after the most recent repairs. Manufacturer response: General Motors denied my repurchase request despite multiple confirmed warranty failures and has not offered a replacement vehicle.
