When shutting the vehicle off, I repeatedly get a “shift to park” error message. The truck will not shut down fully until this message goes away and can drain the battery. I have read this is a common Chevy problem in other models and others who I have talked to have the same issue. The local dealer wanted $170 just to scan it even though I feel they know the issue. The problem started right after the warrant expired and GM sent through a “software push notification” with no explanation what it was for. This feels too coincidental for me and GMs response was to take it to the dealer, not covered by warranty.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving 35 MPH with a trailer hitched to the vehicle, the trailer brake failed to respond on and off independently. Neither an independent mechanic nor a dealer was contacted. The trailer brake failure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with N232414840 - Customer Satisfaction Program (Equipped with BRK APL CTRL FEATURE-INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE); however, the VIN was not included in the program. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. No assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

My steering feels loose and truck doesn't sways and wanders. It wasn't that way when I got it and I only put like 20000 miles on it. It shouldn't be having these issues. Other models 23-24 have a recall for this same issue.

Issue: Tailgate unlatches unexpectedly Erratic behavior consistent with electronic release switch malfunction I am reporting a safety concern involving the tailgate on my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 HD. The tailgate exhibits erratic behavior and has unlatched unexpectedly without user input. I can support this claim with documented video evidence I took while the vehicle was parked. This condition is consistent with the defect described in General Motors safety recall N232426400, which involves water intrusion into the tailgate exterior electronic release switch, potentially causing a short circuit and unintended tailgate opening. Although my vehicle is not included in the recall population based on VIN, it is the same model year, platform, and equipped with the same power-unlatching tailgate system. The failure mode I am experiencing matches the recall description exactly. I brought the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis. The dealership acknowledged familiarity with this issue and indicated they have observed similar failures on other trucks outside the recall VIN population. However, because my VIN is not included in the recall, I was told the repair would not be covered. General Motors offered only minimal goodwill assistance, and I was required to pay for the repair. This condition presents a safety risk, as an unlatched tailgate can allow cargo to exit the vehicle and create a roadway hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. I am submitting this complaint because the defect appears to extend beyond the currently identified VIN population, and I believe additional vehicles may be affected.

After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle was reversed into a nearby service station. The vehicle was later towed to the local auto repair shop, which replaced the brake actuator and the brake pads. Shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the failure had reoccurred, and the brakes seized. The vehicle was towed to a local transmission service center. The cause of the failure was not yet determined, and the vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not contacted. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (POWER TRAIN). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. Rear window leaks severely causing electrical issues. This is a known issue for almost 10 years now with multiple TSB’s about this problem across this vehicle platform. The repair for this is over $1000 often times. This should be a recall. We the consumers should not be stuck footing this bill when GM is well aware that this window causes issues and refuses to make a fix to keep this from happening. Especially, seeing that it typically does not seem to happen during the warranty period of the vehicle. My vehicle is less than 3 years old but now over the mileage cutoff and I was just quoted 1000-1500 to repair this very well know issue. GM needs to be liable for this faulty design.

The braking system is very weak given the towing and load rating on the truck. Emergency stopping is at times questionable. It seems there is almost no braking from the front axle of the truck. In 80000 miles the front brakes are still over 75% pad left with the rear brakes now being on the second set. I have had the dealership Chevrolet of Canton look into this and they tell me that is how this trick is designed to work. This is the first truck I have ever owned that used the rear brakes more 4 times faster than the front brakes. This is an issue that GM needs to look into.

ATC LED Trailer running lights drop out after 2 or so hours of operation. The Trailer is being towed by a 2022 Silverado High Country 3500. I have had the Silverado into Serra Whelan Chevrolet to check the trucks trailer lighting system, said they thought it was the trailer, on 5/10/22. Talked with the service person there and he recommended I purchase a Curt resistance jumper plug part number 57003 because this is an issue with the truck not being able to see the low current drawing LED running lights. I bought the Curt part number 57003 and installed it between the truck and trailer plug. The running lights now drop our after about two hours of operation. I contacted Chevrolet customer service and started an issue # 9-10551955094 on 08/24/2023. Am going to try having Serra Whelan Chevrolet look at the trucks light circuit again. This is a serious safety issue, no trailer tail lights at night. This is an open issue not resolved by GM, I can only safely drive this trailer truck combination during the day, running lights drop out after around two hours of truck trailer operation...no solution has been found as yet.
