1993 Chevrolet Suburban Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, CRUISE CONTROL GOT STUCK, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT HARD. DRIVER HAD TO PUT BOTH FEET ON BRAKE PEDAL WITH FULL BODY WEIGHT TO SLOW DOWN, AND HAD TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. CRUISE MODULATOR HAD TO BE MANUALLY UNSTUCK. GM DENIES THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *AK *ML

LAST SATURDAY 2-20-99 , THE CRUSE CONTROL ON MY 93 SUBURBAN STUCK AT 70 MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT HARD. IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH, BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PETAL, PULLING BACK ON THE STEERING WHEEL, TO SLOW THE VEHICAL DOWN TO ABOUT 15 MPH. I THEN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL. THE RPMS PEGGED OUT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR IN ACOUPLE OF SECONDS AND TURN OFF THE KEY. IF ANYONE ELSE IN MY FAMILY WOULD OF BEEN DRIVING THEY WOULD OF CRASHED. PLEASE SEND ME SOME INFORMATION ABOUT SPEED CONTROLS AND WHAT I CAN DO TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. THANK YOU M. BRYON WALSTON
