2000 Chevrolet Yukon Xl Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

TWO MINUTES AFTER EXITING THE PA TURNPIKE DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD. HAD TO STOP AT THE SIGN ON MY CORNER. APPLIED BRAKES BUT LINE BURST AND PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. CAR WOULD NOT STOP BUT FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE THE TURN AND COAST TO MY HOME WHILE DOWNSHIFTING (AUTOMATIC) AND APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. NARROWLY AVOIDED HITTING A CAR AT THE INTERSECTION. THEN INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS CORRODED, CAUSING BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS YET TO BE REPAIRED. CONTACTED GMC CITING: HTTP://WWW.10NEWS.COM/MONEY/CONSUMER/MORE-GM-OWNERS-REPORT-BRAKE-LINE-RUST08092013 AND LOOKING FOR THE ?GM SPOKESMAN ALAN ADLER NOW SAYS US A REPAIR KIT IS FINALLY AVAILABLE THROUGH DEALERS, THAT LOWERS REPLACEMENT COST FOR CUSTOMERS FROM ALMOST $2,000 TO JUST $500.? OPENED SERVICE REQUEST WITH GMC ON 11/1/13 NOW GMC INDICATES THAT THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND REFERRED ME TO MY LOCAL DEALER. LOCAL DEALER (O?NEIL GMC) INDICATED THAT ALL LINES NEED TO BE FABRICATED, LABOR WAS QUOTED AT APPROX. 15 HRS @ $110/HR AND CALIPERS OFTEN HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL (THEY WON?T KNOW UNTIL THE JOB) ESTIMATED $2-3000 FOR THE REPAIR. 11/11/13 RECEIVED A VOICE MAIL FROM GMC INDICATING THAT THE CASE WILL BE ESCALATED. CAR STILL SITS AND NOW WITH EXPIRED PA INSPECTION. *TR
