2003 Chevrolet Yukon Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2003 Chevrolet Yukon, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2003 YUKON XL. SHE PURCHASED THE CAR IN OCT-03. IN DECEMBER 2004 THE BRAKES WERE VERY BAD. SHE WAS HEARING A LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND AND THE ABS WAS KICKING IN AND SHE COULD NOT STOP THE CAR AT LOW SPEEDS. THE DEALER TOLD HER THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. THEY RESURFACED THE ROTORS IN 12-04. SHE HAS HAD CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES SINCE THEN. THE SQUEAKING SOUND IS STILL THERE AND LASTS LONGER AND THE ABS KICKS IN VERY FREQUENTLY SO MUCH THAT SHE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SHE IS CONCERNED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THE CURRENT RECALL #05V379000. *JB
