I purchased this car new on December 31, 2024. I have owned it for less than 16 months, and in that time, we have had an issue occur at least 5 times where we get an alert on the screen that says, "Stop Safely Vehicle Will Shut Off Soon". Less than 20 seconds later, the car completely dies. On each of the 5 instances, we were lucky to be going relatively slow and were in a safe place with a shoulder to pull over on. The vehicle was able to be turned back on within a few minutes. The check engine light came on momentarily, but would shut off before we were able to get the codes read. We brought this to the attention of Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Danvers (not where we bought the car, but the closest Chrysler dealership for maintenance) and they were unable to provide any help. They said they have never seen this, and since they couldn't get any codes, they didn't know what was going on. My research informs me that this is a known issue, so I'm disappointed that they didn't know about this. I am also terrified to drive my young children in this car, in fear that this will happen again when we aren't able to safety stop. I will provide details for the most recent time that this occurred, but I haven't previously reported the other occurrences.
The contact owns a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention) and 25V302000 (Air Bags); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Van is only 2 years old, maybe 30K miles on it, and it dies while in motion from "electrical issues" of some sort, that are not even battery related. Never seen this in a vehicle ever. Happened to my wife twice in one week while transporting children. They are very lucky to be alive still. This model should not be allowed on the market in this condition.
While driving the indicator light for Forward Collision Warning (FCW or Pedestrian Emergency Braking (PEB) illuminated. This is an intermittent issue and has appeared during snowy or wet road conditions. The owner's manual states description states: Warning light indicates a fault in the FCW/PEB warning system. Contact an authorized dealer for service.
While driving at approximately 65 mph on I-35 in moderate traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power. I was positioned in the far-right lane at the time of the incident. A notification message appeared on the dashboard screen (likely the "Stop Safely" or "Service Hybrid System" warning); however, there was no accompanying audible warning tone to alert me to the severity of the issue before power was lost. The failure rendered the vehicle unable to accelerate, creating a severe safety hazard. I was forced to navigate to the shoulder and stop for the vehicle to reset and allow me to reach the exit while the vehicle was effectively crippled, moving at speeds under 10 mph amidst highway-speed traffic. I was eventually able to exit the freeway at this reduced speed. This was the third and fourth time issue had occurred. This happened IMMEDIATELY after leaving the dealership to resolve this exact issue and was told that the vehicle was safe to drive again.
While driving at approximately 65 mph on I-35 in moderate traffic, the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of motive power. I was positioned in the far-left passing lane at the time of the incident. I was forced to navigate from the far-left lane across multiple lanes of traffic to reach the exit while the vehicle was effectively crippled, moving at speeds under 10 mph amidst highway-speed traffic. I was eventually able to exit the freeway at this reduced speed. This was the second time this issue had occurred. The previous check engine light had cleared on its own and I assumed the vehicle was safe to drive.
Purchased new [XXX] from above. Towed/ driven to service over 3 attempts prior to 7/2023. Ongoing issue of vehicle FTS/intermittent FTS/vehicle cutting off while in gear. Multiple failed repairs, that would qualify for lemon. Parts replaced Summer 2023, minimal issues until 6/2025. 6/2025, FTS issues returned/dealer refused to run services; even with warranty. July 2025: van multiple FTS/error lights/eventually towed/loaner given. Constant claims issue could not be replicated at dealer. Go to p/u 8/8/25-would not start on lot, after being cleared. Chrysler tech sent out with no issues found per technician; although service manager reports he personally had multiple issues of FTS including AM of technician visit. Multiple conversations had with Mr. Sheets and Mr. Freeman. [XXX] FTS per “Red” at dealer prior to vehicle being returned to me; Foreman suggested ignition replacement/returned by dealer to residence that PM. RF Hub may need replaced, if issue reoccurred but shop refused to replace then. Van was taken to Pittsburgh, PA Labor Day weekend and FTS away from hotel on 9/2/25. Sheets provided loaner that PM at residence. RF hub replaced, van returned on 9/8/25. [XXX], van FTS at residence in late PM. 9/10/25, dealer contacted asking for service/loaner; no answers received. Drove after multiple FTS’s to dealer. Mr. Sheets stated “he can’t have me driving one of his cars for months” that dealer has “done all they can.” Also stated “Even though we’ve had issues from the start, there was a period where van functioned and ‘at least we got some use out of it.’ 9/19/25, Chrysler tech could not find issue and Mr. Freeman stated Mr. Sheets said “they will no longer pay for a rental going forward.” Multiple calls and media of vehicle failing to start. Vehicle unreliable/unsafe to operate on roadway. Vehicle not reliable to get to/from and cannot be relied upon in sudden event/ emergency; or if vehicle were to malfunction out of home area/in a dangerous environment. I was recently on a trip and I was traveling I39 in Wi at 70mph there was a Semi next to me on the right side and another Semi in front of me approximately 5 car lengths when all of a sudden the the brakes applied with the dash lighting up saying Brake in big red letters this braking action happened for about 2 seconds This was a very dangerous situation as there were vehicles behind me
My vehicle suddenly experienced a loss of power while driving, starting at 62000 miles per hour. Sometimes the same problem occurs again after driving for several hundred miles per hour, and sometimes even after driving for tens of miles per hour. When this problem occurs, the vehicle cannot continue to drive and can only rely on inertia to slide. It must be parked on the side of the road, the engine must be turned off for one minute, and the vehicle can start again to drive normally. My car has now driven at 89000 miles per hour, and this problem has occurred countless times. At first, it occurred about once every 2-3 days, but now it occurs twice a day.
On [XXX] while traveling on the interstate the car issued a warning engine light and turtle image to pull off the road as the car would shut off, immediately it had no power, maybe could only go 30 mph. Took the car in on 5/10 which was the earliest appt. Said they did a software update, gave the car back. Took the car again on [XXX] when the same warning appeared again on the interstate, same situation disabled vehicle at high speeds on the interstate and no power. Said they changed a module related to the error and gave me the car back. Yesterday as I was driving on [XXX] 70 mph the car gave the same warning and shut off again, immediately I had no power, 30 mph. The dealer acknowledged my car is not the only one in his shop with this issue. They had my vehicle for nearly a month the time before. This vehicle is not safe to drive on the highways as it can shut off at any time. It's a known problem by Chrysler and their idea of fixing it, is issuing a warning which gives you almost no time to get off the highway before your speed is greatly reduced and even then you're stuck on the side of the highway with cars speeding by in an area with no shoulder or construction zone you'd be stuck in the middle of the road. Someone will wind up dead on the highway, I am lucky that in the 3 times this has happened I have not been hit and have been able to safely get to the shoulder, but I don't see Chrysler being able to fix this issue, the dealership did reach out to the manufacturer each time. I know my car is not the only one that has this issue and I'm concerned for the safety of anyone who owns one of these. A simple google search of this vehicle will show the problem is wide spread. I rented this car from Budget on Saturday, May 31, 2025. When I drove it on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The check engine light came on and the car gave a warning that it would shut off. The first time I saw this notification I was stopped at a stopped sign at a 4 way intersection. The car proceeded to shut off after some time (maybe 20 seconds or so, not sure). I was at a full stop and the car was in "Drive". When the car shut off it went into "Park" automatically. I turned the car back on and put it back in "Drive". The car would not move. I check to make sure the parking brake was not turned on and it was not. I put the car in "Park" and back into "Drive" and the car still did not move. I turned the car off a few more times before it switched back into gear normally. I was unable to return the car at that time. About an hour later as I was driving on the interstate in the left lane, the same warning light came on. I had to immediately move from the left lane of a 6 lane interstate all the way to the right shoulder. There was no exit or left shoulder. Once I got there the car idled for a moment and shut off; I am uncertain how long it was before it shut off. I waited a couple of minutes since I was also shaken up at having to move so many lanes on a busy interstate with so many lanes. I got to my destination after about 30 minutes. On the way home about an hour in to the drive, the same thing occurred. I moved onto to the right shoulder of a two lane interstate at this time. This time I shut the car off myself and waited a couple of minutes to turn the car back on. I then drove another 45 minutes home. Then this morning, same warning in my driveway before I left to return it. There were issues with the blind spot warning not working some of the time as well as the display screen would flicker on and off or just become disabled but still visible. I have reported this to the rental company but I want that car off the road.
