The defect: ON CERTAIN CAMPING TRAILERS, THE INNOVATIVE DESIGN TECHNOLOGIES ROOF LIFT SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND MAY FAIL ALLOWING THE ROOF TO COLLAPSE UNEXPECTEDLY.
The risk: SHOULD THIS OCCUR, THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR PERSONAL INJURY TO ANY OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE TRAILER AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE NECESSARY PARTS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 27, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT THEIR LOCAL DEALERS. IF UNABLE TO FIND A LOCAL DEALER, CONTACT VIKING AT 1-800-239-6157.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 COACHMAN CLIPPER SPIRIT RV. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROOF LIFT SYSTEM FAILED AND CAN COLLAPSE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT THEN LOCATED A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V364000 (EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER (COACHMAN) NO LONGER OWNED THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OR RECALL REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. UPDATED 03/31/11*LJ UPDATED 05/19/11
