2002 Damon Intruder Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2002 Damon Intruder, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

LEFT TOP CORNER WINDSHIELD SEAL FAILED, AND WAS LEAKING A LOT OF WATER. (2002 DAMON INTRUDER 369)*AK THE WINDSHIELD CAME OUT AT THE TOP LEFT HAND CORNER AND CAUSED WATER TO ENTER THE RV. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD STAY IN PLACE BECAUSE OF STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS THAT CAUSED THE SEAL NOT TO HOLD. *NLM

I HAD A SAFETY RECALL # 50401C DONE ON 05/09/2006 TO REPLACE ALL 4 CALIPERS BECAUSE THEY MIGHT HANG UP AND CAUSE BRAKE OVERHEATING AND MAYBE A ACCIDENT. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO DAMAGE AND NO WORN OF CRACKED PARTS. I WAS ASKED TO RETURN AGAIN FOR RECALL # 51101C TO AGAIN REPLACE ALL 4 CALIPERS TO THE LATEST STYLE FOR THE SAME REASON. THIS TIME 3 OF THE 4 CALIPERS ON THE MOTORHOME WERE DEEMED NOT USABLE BECAUSE OF CRACKS BUT THE WORK HORSE CORP. WON'T PAY FOR NEW ROTORS. I THINK THIS DAMAGE IS THEIR PROBLEM AND NOT MINE. PLEASE ADVISE.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 DAMON INTRUDER RV. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THERE WAS AN UNUSUAL SMELL EMITTING FORM THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE BEGAN DRAGGING AND WAS HESITANT TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED OFF OF THE ROAD. ONCE THE VEHICLE COOLED OFF FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, IT BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BRAKING SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V225000- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED BECAUSE THE RECALL REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

I PURCHASED THIS RV IN DEC 2016 I HAVE BEEN ON A COUPLE SMALL TRIPS THEN WENT ON A 1000 MILE TRIP AND FOUND THAT A SWAY BAR BOLT WAS MISSING AND THE PROPANE TANK WAS RUBBING ON THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS. THE SPACE BETWEEN THE PROPANE TANK AND LEAF SPRINGS IS TO CLOSE. I HAVE TAKEN A PHOTO OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE LOOKED FOR A RECALL BUT I THINK BECAUSE OF THE AGE IT HAS DROPPED OFF. THERE ARE MORE VEHICLES OUT THERE THAT ARE LIKE MINE AND I WOULD BE AFRAID IF SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE.I AM A RETIRED FIREFIGHTER AND HAVE BEEN ON A PROPANE TANK EXPLOSION ENVOLVING AN RV. AND IT'S NOT A GOOD FEELING TO SEE THIS. I HAVE CONTACTED THOR MOTOR COACH AND FORD BOTH ARE UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL INVOLVING THIS ISSUE. MY DAMON INTRUDER IS AT THE SHOP NOW I AM JUST TRYING TO TRACK DOWN OLD INFORMATION THERE HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF RECALL ON THIS ISSUE.
