2006 Damon Tuscany Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR DAMON TUSCANY MOTORHOME IN THE MOUNTAINS ABOUT 8 MILES EAST OF THE WEST VIRGINIA-KENTUCKY BORDER WHEN OUR POWER STEERING FAILED ABRUPTLY. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND THE MOTORHOME WAS DIFFICULT BORDERING ON THE IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO GET INTO A REST PARK. IT TURNED OUT THAT THIS WAS THE RESULT OF A FAILED FILTER BLOCKING THE HYDRAULIC RETURN LINE. FREIGHTLINER THE COACH CHASSIS MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE. I DISAGREE, AND THINK IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO LOOSE POWER STEERING IN A 12 TON MOTOR HOME IN THE MOUNTAINS. *NM
