1993 Dodge Caravan Heating & air conditioning Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the heating or air-conditioning system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Heating & air conditioning reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

MECHANISM CONTROLING THE DRIVERS SEAT BACK HAS FAILED TWICE, ALLOWING THE BACK OF THE SEAT TO FALL INTO A HORIZONTAL POSITION WHILE DRIVING. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND HAD IT FIXED THE FIRST TIME. WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK THE SECOND TIME, THE DEALER TOLD US TO VISIT A JUNKYARD AND PURCHASE A SEAT THERE-DEALER WAS NOT INTERESTED IN FIXING THE PROBLEM. SEAT IS NOW RIGGED WITH A CABLE TO KEEP SEAT BACK UPRIGHT.

THIS VAN HAS HAD THE AIR CONDITIONER GO OUT AT LEAST 3 OF THE 6 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. NOW, THE ABS COMPLETELY WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH WITH SEVERAL CHILDREN IN THE VAN; THE BRAKES ARE 90% GONE! THIS VAN HAS BEEN A LEMON AND IS IN NEED OF REPAIR EVERY YEAR. MANY OTHER THINGS HAVE GONE OUT TOP INCLUDE THE TRANSMISSION. WHAT CONCERNS ME MOST IS THAT THINGS LIKE THE AIR-CONDITIONING GO OUT EVERY 1 TO 2 YEARS AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRES IN MARCH OF NEXT YEAR. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO GET THE THE AIR-CONDITIONING REPLACED ENTIRELY DUE TO IT ALWAYS FAILING? ALSO, I AM NOT SURE IF MY VEHICLE IS FUEL INJECTED OR NOT.
