2013 Dodge Durango Body & structure Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Body & structure reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I'VE HAD A FEW RECALLS ON THE TRUCK. SEVERAL LISTED WIRING. THEY'VE ALL BEEN 'CORRECTED' OR CHECKED BY A DEALER. MY TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED ALL THE ELECTRICAL UNDER THE HOOD TODAY. LESS THAN A MONTH SINCE THE 'ELECTRICAL' RECALL WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. IT WAS STOPPED BUT RUNNING AT A GAS STATION AFTER A SHORT 3 MINUTE DRIVE. *TT

WHILE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WITH THE VEHICLE OFF, MY WIFE OPENED THE REAR LIFTGATE USING THE EXTERIOR LATCH HANDLE. THE LIFTGATE RAISED TO THE OPEN POSITION AUTOMATICALLY, BUT THEN SLAMMED SHUT WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE PNEUMATIC STRUT THAT HOLDS THE LIFTGATE OPEN FAILED, THE ENTIRE WEIGHT OF THE LIFTGATE LANDED ON MY WIFE'S HEAD, WHO WAS REACHING INTO THE TRUNK TO REMOVE ITS CONTENTS.

THE PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL WELL MOLDING DETACHED AND FLEW OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AFTER WAITING FOR 2 HOURS I WAS ADVISED THE PART WOULD NEED TO BE ORDERED AND WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHEN THE PART WAS IN, TOLD THE PART WAS AT ANOTHER SHOP AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL IT WAS PICKED UP. WAITED FOR AN ADDITIONAL 2 HOURS AND WAS TOLD BY A SERVICE ADVISER THAT THE PART WAS DAMAGED AND THEY WOULD NEED TO ORDER ANOTHER ONE, AGAIN I WAS ADVISED THAT THE PART WOULD BE COVERED. WAITED AN ADDITIONAL 3 WEEKS AND RETURNED TO HAVE THE PART INSTALLED, WAS CALLED BY A DIFFERENT SERVICE ADVISER AND TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THERE WAS A MARK ON THE BUMPER THAT LOOKED LIKE THE BUMPER WAS PULLED OFF BY AN OUTSIDE FORCE. I EXPLAINED THAT THE MARK ON THE BUMPER OCCURRED A YEAR BEFORE THE INCIDENT AND STILL HAD TO PAY $249 FOR A PART THAT I WAS ORIGINALLY WAS TOLD WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

RATTLING NOISE FROM DASHBOARD ON DRIVER'S SIDE NOTED EARLIER, BUT BROUGHT TO SERVICE ATTENDANT'S ATTENTION ON THE GIVEN DATE. WAS TOLD THE SOUND/NOISE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, BUT IF I COULD BRING IN VIDEO WITH SOUND THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DETERMINE ISSUE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 07/12/14 TO HAVE THIS AND OTHER ISSUES ADDRESSED. WHEN I SHOWED UP FOR MY APPOINTMENT, I WAS TOLD THE ELECTRICITY HAD BEEN OUT THE DAY BEFORE AND THEY WERE BACKED UP WITH CUSTOMERS (AT 8:05 AM) AND ONLY ACCEPTING OIL CHANGES. THEY TOOK DOWN ALL VEHICLE INFORMATION/SERVICE INFORMATION AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD CONTACT ME TO SCHEDULE A NEW APPOINTMENT TO ADDRESS ALL CONCERNS. IT IS NOW 08/05/2014 AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A RETURN PHONE OR EMAIL. THE RATTLING NOISE CAN BE DUPLICATED IF I AM DRIVING OVER A SMOOTH OR BUMPY ROAD, AND CAN BE HEARD BETWEEN 30+ MPH. I HAVE IT ON VIDEO NOW, WITH SOUND. NO ONE TO LISTEN TO IT AND FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
