2009 Ducati M1100S Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 Ducati M1100S, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

MY MOTORCYCLE HAS A PLASTIC TANK THAT EXPANDED AND CAUSED THE TANK TO SPILL AND IT DEFORMED TOO IMPEDING NORMAL STEERING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS!!! THEY ARE REPLACING (NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT MY AFTERMARKET EXHAUST COULD BE AN ISSUE BUT IT IS NOT. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED THE BIKE IN ANY WAY THAT WOULD AFFECT THE TANK AND THE FUEL PUMP OR THE FUEL FLANGE) THESE TANKS WITH THE SAME KIND!!! I AM WORRIED THIS BIKE IS NOT SAFE. *TR

1. MOTORCYCLE IS PARKED IN MY GARAGE WITH ABOUT 800 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND IN AS-NEW CONDITION. 2. FUEL BEGAN LEAKING FROM AROUND THE FUEL PUMP FLANGE AT THE BASE OF THE TANK. THIS DRIP IS NEXT TO AN EXHAUST HEADER PIPE ONTO THE REAR OF THE ENGINE BLOCK. UPON INVESTIGATION IT BECAME CLEAR THAT THE PLASTIC TANK HAS DEFORMED (WARPED) AROUND THE FLANGE, OPENING A GAP FOR FUEL TO DRIP RAPIDLY FROM THE TANK. *TR
