The affected vehicles can exceed the 40 km/h speed allowed under the "Low Speed Vehicle" classification. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 500, "Low Speed Vehicles."
