2014 Dutchmen Kodiak Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

THE TRAILER HAS COMPLETELY EXPOSED BRAKE WIRES (OVER 1 FT). THE WIRES HANG DOWN FROM THE WHEEL AND ARE PRONE TO DAMAGE FROM RABBITS (OR OTHER ANIMALS) AND/OR ROAD DAMAGE (FROM DEBRIS). I SPOKE WITH DUTCHMEN AND THEY SAID THIS WAS BUILT TO SPEC. MY WIRES WERE COMPLETELY EATEN BY RABBITS AND LEFT ME WITHOUT TRAILER BRAKES. THE COMPANY DOES NOT CARE AND WILL NOT COVER THE EXTENSIVE REPAIR COSTS.

MISMANUFACTURED DOOR PANELS (METAL DOOR) FOR BEDS PUNCTURING CANVASS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT; MISMANUFACTURED PLASTIC SEAMING WHICH HOLD CANVASS IN PLACE TO TRAILER ITSELF AND MISMANUFACTURED CANVASS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT AFTER NOMINAL USE COMPLETELY FALLING APART LEAVING TRAILER OPEN TO THE ELEMENTS. BOTH ISSUES ALLOW EXCESSIVE AND REPEATED WATER DAMAGE TO UNIT TO OCCUR. UNIT IS APPROXIMATELY ONE AND A HALF YEARS OLD AND ONLY USED A HANDFUL OF TIMES WITH REPEATED SERVICING REQUIRED WHICH HAS NEVER CORRECTED THE MANUFACTURING ISSUES.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
