2014 Entegra Aspire Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2014 Entegra Aspire, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

MY MOTOR COACH IS A 2014 ENTEGRA COACH BUILT ON A SPARTAN K2 CHASSIS. SPARTAN INSTALLED NEW FRONT TIRES (GOODYEAR G670 295/80/22.5) ON MY COACH ON 4/22/2016. MY COACH WAS WEIGHED AT ALL TIRES AND THE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE WAS OBTAINED FROM THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS CHART, WHICH IS THE PRESSURES THAT I MAINTAINED. APPROXIMATELY 18,000 MILES LATER ON 8/27/2019 WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW FOR NOREASON. WE HAD THE TIRE REPLACED AND CONTINUED ON OUR WAY. ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER OUR LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW, AGAIN FOR NO REASON. BOTH TIMES WE HAD A TIRE TECH COME OUT AND REPLACE THE BLOWN TIRE. THEY COULD FIND NO OBVIOUS REASON FOR THE FAILURES. AFTER THE FIRST BLOW OUT, I CHECKED THE OTHER TIRES FOR DAMAGE AND FOUND NONE. I ALSO ASKED THE TECH TO CHECK THE OTHER TIRE. HE TOLD ME AFTER HIS INSPECTION AND CHECKING PRESSURE, THAT THE 2ND GOODYEAR TIRE WAS SAFE AND GOOD TO GO. THERE WAS NO DEBRIS IN THE ROAD EITHER TIME. I HAVE A TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM INSTALLED ON ALL MY TIRES. IT HAS ALARMS FOR PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE ISSUES. I HAD BEEN MONITORING THE TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES OF ALL MY TIRES DURING THE DAY AND DID NOT SEE ANYTHING ABNORMAL. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY ALARMS PRIOR TO EITHER BLOW OUT, SO I AM CONFIDENT THE TIRES WERE PROPERLY INFLATED AND DID NOT HAVE SUFFER ANY TYPE OF AIR LOSS. BOTH TIMES IT WAS A SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC INTERNAL FAILURE. BOTH BLOW OUTS CAUSED DAMAGE TO BOTH SIDES OF THE FRONT END OF THE COACH. I HAVE SINCE READ OF NUMEROUS OTHER COACHES LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME GOODYEAR TIRES THAT HAD FAILURES RESULTING IN DAMAGE AND EVEN CRASHES. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS TO SUFFER A STEER TIRE BLOW OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE OF MINE WERE POOR QUALITY TIRES THAT WERE NOT DESIGNED WELL ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE SIZE AND WEIGHTS OF MY MOTOR COACH. EVEN THOUGH MY WEIGHT WAS WITHIN THE SPECIFICATIONS OF GOODYEAR AND THE TIRES WERE ROUTINELY MAINTAINED, THEY STILL SUFFERED ASUDDEN CATASTROPHIC INTERNAL FAILURE FOR NO REASON.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 ENTEGRA ASPIRE EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR G670RV TIRES, SIZE: 29580R22.5 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 62 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TIRE SPLIT INTO THIN LAYERS. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,800 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,100.

The DEF system gave us a false reading and derated the engine to 5 miles per hour. We were able to make it to a repair shop and left it there.

MY RADIATOR STARTED LEAKING WITH ONLY 26,000 MILES AND NO EXTERNAL DAMAGE. THE LEAK WAS UN-REPAIRABLE AND REQUIRED THAT THE RADIATOR BE REPLACED. THERE ARE MANY SPARTAN CHASSIS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SO SPARTAN IS OBVIOUSLY USING INFERIOR PARTS OR AN INFERIOR MANUFACTURING PROCESS.

In march of 2021 I left Las Vegas Nevada for home (montana) . 70 miles north on highway 93 (2 lane 70 mph ) road def level light came on . Engine power reduction in 30 miles. I then called Spartin mgf. was told to find a rock and hit the top of the DEF head.?? Ok so i did lights went out and i went on 200 miles later lights came on again! found a safe place to pull over and repeated previous instructions. Lights went out and i went on. 50 miles later I arrived in a town called Lund. (population 250) with no warning engine went to reduced engine power and slowed to 1 MPH!!! still on a 2 lane highway! this put my family"s life as well as mine and other motorists in serious danger! this motorhome sat in a motel parking lot for 3 weeks before i could get parts to fix it. this cost me thousands of dollars and is not acceptable for any motor vehicle at any price point.
