2005 Evenflo 389 (triumph) Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

MY 4 MONTH OLD CHILD'S FACE WAS DEEPLY SCRATCHED BY THE SHARP CHEST CLIP THAT COMES STANDARD ON ALL EVENFLO CAR RESTRAINT SYSTEMS. I BOUGHT THE CARSEAT FROM BABIES-R-US. I HAVE SINCE RECEIVED MY MONEY BACK FROM EVENFLO AND THEY TOLD ME TO DESTROY THE ENTIRE CARSEAT, WHICH I DID. BUT THAT NEGLECTS THE ISSUE OF THE CHEST CLIP BEING WAY TOO SHARP TO EVER BY ON ANYTHING MADE FOR BABIES ANYWAY. I NOTIFIED THE MANAGER AT THE STORE BUT. GOT NO WHERE. MY BABY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN INJURED. I DON'T WANT ANYBODY ELSE'S CHILD TO GET INJURED EITHER. A CHILD COULD GET INJURED IN THE EYE AS WELL. THE SCRATCH WAS VERY CLOSE UNDER HIS LEFT EYE. THANK YOU, J. JOHNSON *TR

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM EVENFLO REGARDING THE DEFECT WITH THE TRIUMPH CAR SEAT. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO GET THE REMEDY FOAM LINER FOR MY SEAT I WAS TOLD THAT MY SEAT (MODEL # 3891609P1) IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR SEAT. MY SON IS ABLE TO PULL BACK THE LINER AND PULL OFF PIECES OF THE STYROFOAM AS WELL. *TR

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
