2025 Ford Bronco Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I purchased a 2025 Ford Bronco Outer Banks to flat tow behind my motorhome. Ford dealership in [XXX] said the Bronco can be flat towed and I reviewed the owners [XXX] , regarding flat towing, with the dealership prior to purchase. I went to a reputable hitch installer to add a demco/Air Force one braking system. We went on a 3 month trip out west and followed the directions in the Ford owners [XXX] to flat towing. Unfortunately while being towed the car came out of neutral tow 3 times while and there is no warning system to alert us when this happens. It cannot be felt or detected in our 44 ft coach. Luckily kind strangers saw our rear tires dragging and smoking and signaled to us. The last time we were on I55 near [XXX]. This was quite frightening as this could have easily turned into an accident for us and others on the road. I was able to drive a nearby Ford dealership who assessed the damage. We were lucky that only the rear tires were badly damaged and Ford replaced them for free. It was only at this time that we learned Ford sends out bulletins to dealerships re: updates. Per the dealership a bulletin was sent out in March 2026 stating that fuses 28 and 29 needed to be pulled. I asked why owners do not receive these updates and the dealer did not know. So thereafter we pulled the two fuses and waited 5 min for the Bronco to go in sleep mode. Even after all this, the Bronco would come out of sleep mode at times (2x) while being towed. For our safety and others on the road, we stopped flat towing the Bronco and my husband drove the coach and I drove the Bronco back to our home in [XXX]. Ford does not have a consistent fix for this issue and it scares me that there will be a horrific accident at some point. We tried to tell Ford of this issue and looked into a buy back or lemon law;however, Ford denied any problems( but they did replace our rear tires for free). Flat towing a 2025 Bronco behind a 2025 Newmar Dutchstar using a Blue Ox tow bar with Demco AirForce Braking System. Ford has a setting called neutral towing. It allows you to tow behind a motorhome with brake lights, braking, etc. When the Ford is in neutral tow, and in neutral gear, all 4 wheel roll freely and you can tow safely. What's happening is the Ford is waking up out of neutral tow when the 12V battery gets low. This isn't supposed to happen as there is a 7 Pin electrical connector from the motorhome to the 6 pin electrical connected to the Bronco. Once the 12v battery gets low, the Ford computer wakes up, see's it moving the back tow tires, so the system is applying the emergency brake locking up the 2 back tires. This has now happened three times as we have traveled from [XXX] to [XXX] (had it looked at Crossroads of Ford of Apex where I bought it). I took it in to Schmop Ford in Denver and after almost a deadly accident on XXX near [XXX], to XXX. They found the back two tires destroyed. Ford replaced the tires at no charge, but the issue remains. THIS SUV SHOULD NOT BE APPROVED FOR FLAT TOWING. It is dangerous and could be deadly. You have no way of knowing unless someone else tells you. Thanks to the stranger on XXX on XXX. They told us of our issue so we pulled over. If we were to continue driving the motorhome, the tires would've been totally destroyed, a fire, or cause us to flip over. There are so many complaints on the internet about this issue. You must make Ford fix this issue with a software fix immediately. Don't make my complaint for another unlucky traveler like myself. I have enclosed the back tire picture. You can see one tire with the tread completely gone, the other tire tread missing is not shown. You can also see how the tires are mis-shaped from rubbing across the highway cement. I AM TRYING TO UPLOAD PICTURES BUT YOUR SYSTEM IS GIVING ME AN ERROR FOR A JPEG LESS THAN 10MB INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Bronco hard top is beginning to warp really bad and delaminate. Classic problem happening with there and ford still refuses to come up with a real solution. Every day the warping gets worse and I’m just waiting for it to get bad enough so I can take it in and ford actually do something about it. The warping and delaminating also impacts the seals of the hardtop panels on the car. The top also rattles really bad. Absolutely crazy for an expensive car. It’s very obvious that climate and humidity have the largest impact on this issue and STILL they do nothing about it.

On oct. 26, 2025, I was in a bad car accident. I was coming home and came to a stop on Spring Street. In Marion. MA before entering Rte 6 . I looked both ways and the rte was clear. I looked again both ways and still was clear, so I moved my 2025 Bronco Badlands onto the Rte 6 and within seconds I was hit very hard on the front left quarter. My SUV spun around at least 270º and I was immediately taken to the ER nearby (Tobey Hospital) for Brain and neck Studies. No airbags deployed. I have photos of the vehicle showing my damage. The driver of the other car must have been speeding as the hit was huge. I was the sole person in my car. The Marion PD Officer who was in charge of this accident changed the story to say "I looked both ways, saw a car coming and I moved forward" into Rte 6 to get home around the corner. I had injuries all over my body and brain with concussion/mild TBI. There were no witnesses and the building near the scene of the MVA had a professional camera over their front door. They would not let me see the video. They did let the other driver see the video The angle of this cam was changed from straight across the street looking at the scene directly. I had no way of knowing what happened and I have spent about a half a year getting therapy at three different physical therapy sites/hospital. I asked the Police to see if I could ask the State Police if they would do a Collision Analysis and Reconstruction so I could know what happened as I was labeled At Fault which I understood if the other driver was driving normally and safely. I was told that if no one is seriously hurt or dead then they would do it. I lost my memory and am still getting visual changes and severe headaches. The series of Radiologic images show that I had lots of Damage. I am a XXX Physician and I know I was hit by surprise and never saw the other car because of the angles of the road. I told photos and have images of the scene and of my car and the other car

on Jan 15, 2025. A cold start for the Bronco, putting in reverse, the vehicle lurched back and to the hard right, uncommanded acceleration at a high rate of speed, steering locked up, brakes locked up, tires spinning, engine revving causing the bronco to smash into the exterior of my home garage area. Then, shifting to drive, the vehicle again lurched, uncommanded acceleration hard to the left now, steering locked up, brakes locked up, tires spinning engine revving traveling 20-30 feet crashing into the electrical box coming to rest on top of it. Numerous faults showing multiple systems malfunctioning causing this incident.

Description: My 2025 Ford Bronco suffered a catastrophic failure of both rear shock absorver external reservoirs, consistent with Recall 25S01 (NHTSA 25V025). The reservoirs detached intirely while driving out-of-state, forcing an 800-mile transit with 5 passengers on an unstable suspension. Issue: Upon presenting the vehicle to Interstate Ford, the dealer and a Ford Representative issued a formal denial of warranty coverage. They cited Claim Type 14, Condition Code 39 ("Missing Part"). Why it's a Safet Risk: Ford is using the severity of the defect - the fact that the part sepearated - as a reason to deny the repair, even though Recall 25S01 explicitly warns that the defect causes "seperation fo the external reservoir." This is a refusal to remedy a known safety defect that has already caused a hazardous driving condition.

Description of Incident: > While driving in freezing drizzle/sleet conditions in northern Minnesota, the factory-installed LED headlights on my 2025 Ford Bronco became obscured by ice buildup within 15 minutes of driving. The Safety Issue: > the LED headlights do not produce sufficient heat to melt frozen precipitation. This resulted in a degradation of forward visibility during nighttime driving, creating a safety hazard. I was forced to pull over repeatedly on a high-speed roadway to manually scrape ice from the lenses. Request: > I am reporting this as a design defect for vehicles sold in northern climates. The lack of a heating element or de-icing mechanism in the standard LED equipment makes the vehicle unsafe for nighttime driving during freezing weather with high humidity conditions.

I was driving the vehicle on high mountain pass roads in Colorado. Anytime I would approach approximately 11,400 feet of elevation. The vehicle would instantly lose all power with no warning lights of any kind. All gauges were in the normal operating range. Vehicle would barely move 2 mph. Created a very unsafe condition on narrow steep dirt roads in the mountains. As soon as I turned around and descended approximately 100 feet in elevation the power came back instantly and vehicle operated normally. This happened on three occasions. The roads we were on were narrow, off-road vehicle mountain roads, and it created an extremely dangerous situation. I contacted Ford and they have not heard of this issue and there are no recalls associated with it. I spoke to a Ford bronco ambassador, who was also on the trail system with a lot of other off-road vehicles, including Broncos and they had never heard of this happening . This vehicle is Six months old. Ford says there are no codes set on my computer and since they cannot duplicate this where I live in Phoenix because there are no roads high enough I don’t know where to turn.

They have yet to repair this recall even though a remedy has been available. I have asked multiple times at my dealer and they always have a reason they can’t do it. They text me one time and never set the appointment. I have called and called and even went in. I asked at my oil change and at first they said yes but then they said they couldn’t check because “it would take all day and they did not have the time”. I went in at 8:15 or 9:15am. I even called after I made my oil change appointment and verified on the phone they can check for the recall that day and they said yes. But changed it when I showed up. I haven’t heard back since then. Here is the recall information; Manufacturer Recall Number26S30 NHTSA Recall Number26V268 They also have yet to notify me of the second recall on the vehicle causing engine fires. I only found out because I have a news app and saw an article. I have the Ford app and it “alerts me to recalls” but I’ve found out about every recall from the news not Ford until months after. Why aren’t they notifying customers promptly?
