What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1995 Ford Club Wagon, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

INTERMITENTLY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD ABS DID NOT STOP VEHICLE, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE AND/OR ERRATIC STOPPING. *AK *ML
ABS LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY- ON 2 OCCASIONS, BRAKE PEDAL WAS ROCK HARD, WHEELS LOCKED UP, NO STEERING OR BRAKING ABILITY, SLIDES FORWARD UNTIL YOU LET UP ON PEDAL (THIS IS ON SNOW COVERED ROADS). DEALER CHECKED WHEN LIGHT OFF- SHOWED NOTHING. SAID TO CHECK AGAIN WHILE LIGHT IS ON. SAID THEY SUSPECT IT'S A PART THAT REGULATES THE HYDRAULICS TO THE BRAKES. *AK
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER DOOR HANDLES SPLIT APART AND BROKE OFF WITHIN TWO YEARS OF THE VAN BEING BOUGHT. ADDITIONALLY, THE INTERIOR LATCHES WHICH OPEN THE SIDE AND REAR DOORS FROM THE INSIDE CRACKED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. REPLACEMENT DOOR HANDLES COST $95.00 EACH (ACCORDING TO JOHNSON FORD). JOHNSON FORD ALSO TOLD ME THAT YOU CANNOT BUY THE INTERIOR LATCHES WITHOUT BUYING THE ENTIRE DOOR ASSEMBLY ($128.00 EACH). WHEN I COMPLAINED TO JOHNSON FORD, THEY SIMPLY SAID THAT THAT WAS THE PRICE OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO FORD, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY APPRECIATED MY INPUT. MEANWHILE, MY WIFE AND I TRANSPORT OURSELVES AND OUR SIX CHILDREN IN A VAN WITH FAULTY INTERIOR PLASTICWARE. I HAVE JURY RIGGED HANDLES FOR THE FRONT DOORS AND SIDE/REAR DOOR LATCHES. NEITHER JOHNSON FORD NOR FORD MOTORS WANTS TO ADMIT THAT THE FACT THAT THESE INTERIOR HANDLES BREAK SO EASILY IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HOPE THAT YOU CAN DO SOMETHING TO MAKE FORD TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.
FRAME CRACKED IN 2 PARTS ON THE DRIVER'S REAR WHEEL FRAME WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

SERIOUS PROBLEM OF LACK OF CONTROL DUE TO DEFECTIVE GEAR BOX. DEALER SAID IT WAS THE TIRES, WE REPLACED THE TIRES, TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE LIKE A BOAT.
STEERING MAKES A GROWLING SOUND AND VIBRATES. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK

From owner reports, verbatim
WHILE TRAVELING TO A NEIGHBORING TOWN ON MAY 16, 2204 MY FULL SIZE 1995 FORD CLUB WAGON CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED TO THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE DOORS WERE OPEN AND THE FIRE BACKDRAFTED THROUGH THE AIRCONDITIONING VENTS IN THE FRONT OF VEHICLE AND SWEPT TO THE REAR. IN LOOKING THROUGH SOME INFO I HAVE READ ABOUT ABOUT FUEL LINES LEAKING IN THE ECONLINE VANS. I WOULD LIKE THIS FIRE INVESTIGATED. MY VAN WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF.*AK
