1993 Ford Crown Victoria Visibility Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the visibility system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Visibility reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WE HAD TO HAVE THREE OF THE CARS WINDOWS WORKED ON - THEY WOULD NOT GO UP OR DOWN. NOW THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW HAS QUIT WORKING A SECOND TIME. WE DO NOT EXCESSIVELY USE THE WINDOWS. I AM THE SOLE DRIVER OF THE CAR AND USUSALLY JUST TAKE IT TO WORK 2 MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND BACK. I USE THE AC. EACH TIME WE HAVE THE WINDOWS REPAIRED IT IS $200 OR GREATER. SO FAR WE HAVE $600 INTO THE WINDOWS. WE WILL PROBABLY NOT FIX THEM ANYMORE WHEN THEY BREAK. WE UNDERSTAND FROM CRUISING THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR OF CAR. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE? WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW QUIT WORKING FOR THE SECOND TIME, THAT WAS REALLY ANNOYING. WHENEVER I NEED TO USE THAT WINDOW (MORE FREQUENTLY THAN THE OTHERS)- I HAVE TO OPEN THE DOOR GET OUT OF THE CAR.*AK

THE PULSE WINDSHIELD WIPER DOES NOT ENGAGE AT CERTAIN SETTINGS. AT OTHER TIMES, THE PULSE WIPER BECOMES INOPERABLE WHEN ENGAGING THE TURN INDICATOR, CAUSING VISUAL PROBLEMS DURING RAIN/SNOW. INSTALLING A NEW BATTERY HELPED FOR A WHILE, BUT THE SAME PROBLEMS EVENTUALLY RETURNED. IT APPEARS TO BE A SHORT-CIRCUIT/GROUNDING PROBLEM OF SOME TYPE. THE INDEPENDENT FRONT-END SUSPENSION PROBLEM CONCERNS A CRACKING SOUND OF METAL ON THE FRONT-PASSENGER SIDE WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS INFREQUENTLY, BUT HAS BEEN NOTICED SINCE EARLY PURCHASE DATE. *AK
