2024 Ford E-450 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

What this page shows

Our database holds 4 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2024 Ford E-450. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

On two separate occasions, the vehicle's left rear wheel studs have broken off clean with the hub and both rear dual wheels departed the vehicle while in motion. This issue was reported to the local FORD dealer and they reported that they do not know why this is happening. This has happened to five (5) of our other vehicles as well. I am a fleet manager for an EMS service and we have a total of ten (10) of these Ford chassis. The wheels coming off present a hazard to oncoming traffic not to mention the safety of our team members and patients being transported on our ambulances. We sent the vehicle to Kilgore Ford in Kilgore, Texas and they advised they are not sure how this keeps happening. There were no warning lamps that gave the driver a warning that something was wrong until the truck started vibrating and the wheels came off. All of our vehicles, including these FORD Chassis', undergo Preventative Maintenance every 5,000 miles and we check torque on these FORD chassis' because of these continued failures. Our torque wrenches are checked annually for calibration and we utilize the FORD Diagnostic Software and FORD Torque Specification which are followed on every preventative service.

Lifters in engine is going out. Ford has made a TSBs for repair because lifters and camshaft was made by a third party and they are defect. Here is Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 25-2200). Vehicle is available for inspection. It was put at risk because vehicle could loose power at any time and potential crash into another car. The problem has been reproduced in 4 different Ford vehicles. Has not been inspected by manufacturer or others. No warning lights were present.

The brand new JAYCO GREWHAWK is making a whining sound from the chassis. I have not even driven it more than 50 miles. this vehicle needs to be recalled for whatever chassis issues or it could be transmission issues. I will take it back to FORD but this is really bad on ford to sell brand new RVs with such whining sound coming from the chassis. Please alert the new owners about the issues . thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
