2022 Ford Edge Powertrain (other) Problems

My torque converter is malfunctioning, there are no warning lights, and my car only started driving differently very recently in the past couple of weeks. According to the Ford mechanic my car has been throwing error codes since early May. The dealership was able to confirm that this happens, and that my torque converter needs to be replaced. My car is only four years old and only has 75,000 miles on it. Ford refuses to do anything to help with this almost $8000 repair. They also issued a recall for the backup camera, update was pushed to my car that was supposed to correct it, my backup camera now goes black frequently when I am reversing.

The vehicle jerks while changing from 1st to 2nd shaking the engine. I have had 2 transmission flushes which help for a moment then it behave the same way jerking while shifting gears. The vehicle asks like it does not want accelerate at times while shifting gears as well

On Wednesday May 13th the car started acting a little jerky whence putting car in reverse like normal. There was a thunk sound. But it still shifted. We then drove the car about 10 miles. Then later in the day attempted to drive home. It’s was over-roving while driving. Acting erratic. We pulled into a tire place to see if something was stuck underneath. The check engine light was on and there was an error message saying broken parking brake? They said to have it towed to a Transmission Specilist. To our horror. They are saying it needs a new transmission! A 4 yr old car? This is not normal. It worked fine until now. It would not move out of second or third gear. It nearly crashed.

I am reporting an ongoing and concerning issue with my 2022 Ford Edge. My vehicle has begun hesitating when pressing the accelerator and jerking or skipping, mainly when going from cruising/coasting to accelerating. Some days the issue is worse than others, but it has progressively made the vehicle feel unsafe to drive. At times, it feels as though the vehicle may break down while driving on the interstate in heavy city traffic with my child. After researching this issue, I have found that many other 2022 Ford Edge owners are experiencing the same symptoms, with the torque converter frequently identified as the cause. We had it scanned for codes even though nothing was showing up on the dashboard, and a code of U2107-68 came up, which doesn't make sense. This appears to be a widespread and recurring problem rather than an isolated incident. This behavior is not normal and raises serious concerns regarding drivability, safety, and long-term damage to the transmission. Given how common this issue appears to be among 2022 Ford Edge vehicles, I strongly believe this warrants further investigation and the establishment of a recall. Owners should not be financially responsible for a known and recurring manufacturing defect. I am requesting that Ford address this issue promptly and take responsibility for repairs associated with this problem. My family appreciates your review.

The transmission failed, yes it’s available for inspection. The car stopped while I was driving putting my life at risk to get into a crash with other vehicles. Yes it’s been confirmed by an independent auto shop. It has not been inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance. Insurance says it’s not covered so they didn’t give it the time of day to inspect. No warnings that I knew of.

The transmission on my 2022 Ford Edge is experiencing premature failure at approximately 81,000 miles. The vehicle exhibits repeated harsh jerking during acceleration, most notably at approximately 15–20 mph and occasionally around 40 mph. Additionally, the vehicle has experienced intermittent failure to engage in reverse. When reverse does engage, it sometimes does so with a sudden and forceful jerk. These issues create a safety concern due to unpredictable vehicle behavior, especially in low-speed traffic, parking situations, and when reversing. The hesitation and harsh engagement could increase the risk of a crash or injury. The vehicle now requires a full transmission replacement.

The contact owns a 2022 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving 25 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle shuddered. There was an abnormal thud coming from the engine compartment. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the RPM was fluctuating and the engine revved while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the torque converter and the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the dealer advised that the failure was a known failure and that there was a Technical Service Bulletin Number: 25-2154 that detailed the repair. The contact was advised by the dealer that a full transmission replacement was denied by the manufacturer, and that only the torque converter was replaced. The vehicle was partially repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle started shuddering and shaking while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,500.

Vehicle started shuddering. Year is a 2022 so less than 5 years old. My son and I both drive this vehicle and the car starts to slow and jerk making it unsafe to drive. Taken vehicle to many shops who could not find the problem. Finally took it to Ford and they confirmed the torque converter is failing. I bought this vehicle because I thought it would be a safe family vehicle and boy was I wrong. Please make this right. I've done my research and I've seen many complaints about this same exact problem. Noone in this current economy has 11,000 to put into a vehicle I still have 6 years to pay on. This vehicle is new and should not need a new transmission.

I was driving to work, was approx 15 miles into trip when the wrench sign came on the dash, within the next 5 to 10 miles the vehicle starting shifting weird, by the next 5 miles as I pulled to stop light the vehicle had hard shifting down and would be hesitant to move when pushing on gas and within the next few miles continued to get worse and started smelling a burnt smell. Pulled into hospital parking lot and had a pwertrain failure on the ford app. Edge Titium 2022 with approx 91000 miles, mostly highway miles, towed to dealership, extended warranty only will cover certain amount of transmission which now leaves me either getting a used with only a 6 month guarantee or paying for a new one. Prior to this there had been no shifting or other indicators that the transmission had any problems.

I was driving down the road in Sioux Falls and went to go on a green light and pushed on accelerator and car hesitated. It finally decided to go and started jerking and going thru all of the gears at once. It did this several times on the way home. There was a lot of traffic out also. The next day I was driving from my house in Harrisburg and it started jerking and deacceralting on its own (with traffic behind me). I got to the stop sign and kept smelling smoke. I shut the car off and restarted it and could only drive 10 miles per hour to get to the shop. This has happened 5 different times. I got to the shop and they said it was my transmission. They stated they hooked it up to computer and threw codes out. 8 days later I took to another shop and they stated the same thing (this shop took my car for test drive and understood what I was talking about). I called Ford about it and they stated they could not help me and hung up. It is a safety issue. I could of been crossing railroad tracks when this happened and a train could of been coming down the tracks.

As we were driving the vehicle it started to hesitate then would begin slipping as it shifted to the point it had to be babied as you drove it. Less than 10k miles out of warranty and only three years old. All of the previous awd edge models had a recall by Ford to cover what I learned was a failing torque converter, requiring a full transmission rebuild. This model has yet to be covered even though it is having the exact same problems as previous versions.

Vehicle is experiencing sluggish acceleration and stalling when driving under 40 mph. Vehicle has stalled in heavy traffic on occasion. Further investigation with transmission is being conducted soon. No other issues with powertrain to this point, vehicle maintenance has been on or only slightly behind schedule per recommended maintenance schedule. Hundreds of other similar make and model vehicles have reportedly had similar issues.
