Warning message appeared on dash as I was braking. Reduced braking power. I had pushed on brake pedal almost to the floor & missed turning at a corner. My car also makes noise upon backing up each day.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the brake pads and rotors were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the weather was humid or it rained, the sound was louder. The contact related the failure to TSB: 23-2308 (Moaning Noise When in Reverse; in cold weather and/or high humidity); however, the vehicle was not included in the TSB. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal there was an excessive amount of brake dust coming from the front brake pads. Additionally, there was an abnormal banging sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and filed a claim and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.
Vehicle has an issue with braking system. When attempting to stop, the brake pedal required much more force to be applied that subsequently increased stopping distance. Safety to operator and/or others is at great risk due to extended stopping distances. The condition has not been confirmed by the dealer service department or independent service center. However, this condition occurred to the owner of the vehicle as well as the vehicle owner's son (that is in the auto industry as an insurance adjuster). The dealer only looked at the condition of the brake pads, calipers, and rotors. The dealer did not look into the hydraulic braking system or brake lines. (NOTE: There is an open recall on many Ford Escapes, however, this particular vehicle identification number is outside the current recall notice. I believe they should investigate and/or expand the recall to add more vehicles due to our discovery) The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative or others. No ODB Codes or warning lights appeared on the dash information screen.
While going on the highway it braked hard and displayed service stabilitrak light with traction control light flashing went away after 10 seconds. Then I pulled into my driveway and it snapped the wheel out of my hand forcefully almost breaking my wrist and wouldn't let me turn right. Towed it to ford where they claim a loose battery terminal was present. No warning at all before this. Upper engine noise too (possibly pulley) 28k miles and trans is shifting hard as well. The trust for the vehicle is gone. I have a video as well of the steering wheel snapping.

The SUV when driving about 45 MPH and go to place the brakes the car shakes and when you back up it is a real loud high Shril sound took it to Ford and they wont return the car I can not take anymore I am tired I have had problems since I first purchase the ford suv I am disgusted fuel injections transmission back breaks problems I want to return the car please contact me [XXX] [XXX] Note: they supposedly fixed the problems but there is still fuel injection leakages and transmissions and back brake assistance problems still to this day ford has not fixed the problems and allowing me to drive on the road with a unsafe car and endangering others/children on the road Back in 2020 there was a recall on this car and the dealership apparently did not fix the problems sold me this car 2022 july bad brakes, transmissions, fuel injections problems and seat belts for child are bad the car shakes One example in July 2023 the car suddenly stopped and shut off luckily I was slowing down at a red light I expressed this to the ford dealership in falls church va and they just shrugged me off INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Powertrain malfunction/ reduce power. My safety was fine, it just gave me really bad anxiety when the the gears shift shifted on its own. The problem was finally fixed it started literally less than five days after I bought my car and I bought my car brand new it took the dealership almost 2 years to believe me on what was wrong with it then of course I try to get blamed when I showed them proof on my phone that it was popping up a different times in the last two years. Yes Yes it started 3/27/22 - 2/01/24 Now I feel like I’m having problems with my brakes sometimes I feel like I gotta press on my heart to get them to stop and then it’s like my car is delaying when it’s stopping. Yet I checked to see if my car had any new recalls and nothing’s coming up. The powertrain malfunction didn’t even come up as a recall yet I had Ford fix it.

My incident report is a non accident report, I am trying to be proactive and report problems I’ve experienced with this vehicle since I purchased this vehicle 2 years ago. The vehicle has been problematic since I purchased brand new in 2022. I’ve been reporting this issue for two years and the mechanic has not been able to resolve the issues.
Brakes are moaning when backing up. and there is a grabbing sensation when trying to stop, I have to pump the brakes!
I have a 2022 Ford Escape and the rear brakes started making a noise in reverse. I know Ford has a recall on this problem for Broncos and 2021 Ford Escapes and a few 2022 Ford Excapes but my is not included. I feel this should be covered either under the recall 21C31 or under my car warranty. I have talked to Ford and they know there is a problem with the brakes but wont cover my car.

The vehicle immediately self-started and operated normally. The contact stated that during the failure the brake pedal was not pressed. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. When backing up, the brakes and going forward to stop, the brakes are making a loud, moaning sound. When trying to stop, the brakes are "grabbing," making a rubbing, friction type sound as well, causing me to have to pump the brakes to stop the vehicle.

- Brakes make a rough squeeling or scrubbing noise when applied. This intensifies when wet or humid outside. - The brake system could be failing or causing pads to deteriorate. - When I brought this to the service manager's attentiin at the dealership he stated, " Yeah, it happens" and never did anything about it. - Unknown if ever inspected since I am the second owner and there are a couple of service records in history with "unknown" in the description. - There have been no warning lamps or any other symptoms.

The brakes failed completely, the pedal touched the ground. It is currently getting inspected a ford dealership. The vehicle was unable to stop causing it to crash into my house. This could out the driver and passengers are risk if it occurred on a main road or highway. It has not been inspected yet. It is in the process. No. Not warning on the dash for brakes before or after the accident.
Case#11516274 Ford Motor Company puts metal in there brake pads watch causes a massive amount of brake dust on the wheels, a few days ago I tried getting it off with a power washer it would not clean at all. I reported it to you by the number above, also went to the dealer today, They said they will not fix its Fords problem. That is unacceptable there is brake dust all over the rotors and pad. I need your help! PLEASE.

Rear brakes squeak/moan when in reverse. The recent TSB from Ford states this is a recurring issue with Escape owners. My vehicle underwent the fix (which should have only taken 0.70 hours, but took 3 hours on a scheduled appointment), only to get the vehicle back and the sound is even louder than it was before. Vehicle went back in for said concern. They installed a brake muffler piece to help muffle the noise. However, whatever was done has now made the brakes loose and the peddle needs to be pushed almost to the ground. So again, the fix isn't the actual fix. Lane Departure and Crossing almost caused an accident. It had rained and there were mud/gravel dust tracks on the road. The cameras thought it was the road line and swerved me multiple times into the oncoming lane. Needless to say, I stopped this feature on my vehicle for safety reasons.

After a visual inspection, the contact observed brake dust on the wheels. The ABS warning light was illuminated.
