What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2022 Ford Expedition, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
Unknown
The ipma module which controls the lane keep assist has stopped working permanently. The dealership has quoted the cost to replace the ipma at over $1,000. The warning light stating that the front camera module and lane keep assist are unavailable appears each time the vehicle is started up.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
ABS break lights and Service Advanced Trac lights flashing and beeping. Eventually Break fluid low lights came on and car would not break when driving . Leaked break fluid on driveway. Car was unable to be driven, no breaks .all happened very quickly and without any reason .i had it towed to a break mechanic and he said it was the ABS modular break line that was broken and there was no more break fluid and it had leaked out . He suggested I send it to the dealership. It sounds like the exact same issue as the recall # 25S47 on campaign 25V314 but my vin number does not fall under they but shows it is the same Kentucky plant and year so I do believe it is the same issue
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, it failed to start with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was jump-started. The dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the air bag warning light continuously remained illuminated. The failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V847000 (Steering, Air Bags); however, the VIN was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the transmission was sticking. The failure was a recurring failure. The dealer was contacted, and the vehicle received a software update; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
While driving on the highway, my 2022 Ford Expedition suddenly lost acceleration. The gas pedal stopped responding completely and the vehicle gradually lost power until it shut off. It had to be towed and the battery was fully drained afterward. It was later diagnosed as a fuel pump failure. This was a sudden loss of propulsion in traffic and created a serious safety concern. Police pulled over and were able to get me towed to the nearest safe stop as my car stopped on a bridge with no shoulder.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V455000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), 26V204000 (Visibility), and 26V368000 (Structure); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the sunroof windscreen flew off and landed on the highway. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was determined that the sunroof windscreen needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred approximately five months later. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the sunroof windscreen flew off onto the highway again. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer, where it was determined that the sunroof windscreen needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,065.

The vehicle stalls, when stopped in traffic. In order to restart the vehicle, the transmission must be placed in the “park” position. This happens intermittently after the vehicle has been driven for a longer distance. I have read that this is related to the fuel injection system getting overheated which causes the fuel supply to drop and basically starves the system of the necessary fuel for combustion. Ford does not have a solution for this, however, the problem continues and creates a safety hazard especially during the darker hours.
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim

I am submitting a formal consumer complaint regarding a persistent brake issue—specifically a loud squeal when coming to a stop in a 2022 Ford Expedition Max Limited purchased as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle through Ford’s Blue Advantage Program. At the time of sale, I was assured the vehicle met certification standards, had no unresolved safety concerns, and that any recalls had been addressed. However, I later learned that Safety Recall 25S47 (NHTSA Campaign 25V-314) had been issued in May 2025—one month prior to purchase—for a front brake line defect that may cause brake fluid leaks, reduced braking performance, and increased crash risk. Despite this, the vehicle was certified and sold with representation that the recall showed “no concern.” Since purchase, the vehicle has exhibited constant brake squealing, worsening stopping performance, and reduced responsiveness. The issue occurs at every stop and persists despite replacement of front and rear brake pads and rotors. Timeline: • Apr 2024 – Prior brake-related service • May 9, 2025 – Recall issued • June 4, 2025 – Brake service prior to sale • June 14, 2025 – Purchased as certified • Within 1 week – Issue reported • June 25, 2025 – Inspection found “no concern” • July 2025 – Pads/rotors replaced • Within 2–3 months – Issue returned • Ongoing – Condition deemed “within guidelines” Multiple attempts to resolve this through the dealer, a consumer complaint organization, a state regulatory complaint, and a manufacturer repair case have not resulted in a fix. This raises concern that a vehicle with a known safety-related defect was certified and sold without proper resolution. I request investigation into whether certification standards were properly followed and whether consumer protection requirements were violated. I am seeking a permanent manufacturer-backed repair, repurchase, or other appropriate relief.

Summary of Safety Issues with Chicco Car Seat 1.) Magnetic Chest Clip Disassembly (October 2023) • At [XXX] old, my daughter disassembled the magnetic chest clip while seated in the car. • She placed a small part in her mouth, creating a choking hazard. • I was stranded until a replacement car seat could be brought. • I replaced the clip with a plastic version Chicco provided, but the original design posed a serious and unacceptable safety risk. 2.Child Unlocking Base Mechanism (April 2025) • My daughter is able to unlatch the seat from its base while rear-facing. • She does this repeatedly, even after being re-secured. • Chicco only sent a “lever lock” cover despite my request for a full replacement, which was ignored. • This flaw allows a toddler to disengage the seat mid-drive, rendering the product unsafe and unusable. 3.) Cup Holder Suffocation Hazard (June 2025) • My daughter easily removes the silicone cup holders. • On one occasion, she placed one over her mouth and nose, creating suction and restricting her breathing. • I have since removed the cup holders entirely, though this alters the seat’s intended use. • This presents a clear suffocation hazard. 4.) Excessive Rattling When Not in Use (Ongoing) • When installed rear-facing and unoccupied, the seat rattles loudly during travel. • The noise is so disruptive I have rotated the seat forward-facing at times to reduce it. • While less severe than the other hazards, this reflects poor product integrity and contributes to ongoing safety concerns. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
The component that failed is the left front driver side headlight of the vehicle, resulting in low visibility and inability to see or drive the vehicle in it's current condition at night. The only "warning" that could potentially have been a "warning", was the blinker began rapidly blinking the day before the headlight stopped functioning; the blinker no longer worked in the headlight but still worked on the driver mirror and back taillight. By the next day, the driver side headlight no longer functioned. It is my knowledge that Ford has a lifetime guarantee on the headlights for this make, model, and year of vehicle. Due to this not functioning, I would like to get it properly replaced under warranty or guarantee of Ford.
The coating and plastic is failing in the headlights, this can reduce visibility and by extension safety.

The vehicle stopped running while driving, my wife stopped at a stop sign after vehicle had run ~ 10 minutes. Upon entering the inter-section the vehicle started to run rough, and ultimately stalled and would not restart. She was able to coast into a parking lot entrance within On Top of World subdivision where we live and get off of main road. After multiple AAA attempts to jump start, AAA confirmed the vehicle was unable to be jump started, therefore vehicle was towed to local ford dealership for diagnostics. They tried to jump start multiple times and after 2 days, pushed it into garage. They confirmed fuel pump failure and replaced with current design. We were charged for towing, new battery, and fuel pump system replacement with current design and advised we would have to bring it back in when Ford identified remedy for current recall. No loaner vehicle provided. We are very concerned as if this event had occurred on an interstate, there is a high risk of accident/injury. After repair with existing part designs we are worried about another failure on busy road/interstate.

3rd row seat has metal frame coming through cushion. Had seat cushion replaced once. Ford technician said was design flaw in vehicle and issue will continue to happen. Just had vehicle in again for same issue but Ford will not replace cushion this time because they confirmed other like vehicles are having same issue and deeming is a normal condition. This is a huge safety issue for my children. This is not a normal condition to have a cushion fall through and the metal seat frame is exposed.
