I am reporting a safety-related transmission problem I experienced with my 2023 Ford F-150 equipped with the 10R80 automatic transmission. While driving normally, the transmission suddenly does not accelerate for up to 3 seconds while pressing the gas pedal, brakes either harshly or too soft at varying times, and very irregularly. This occurred while accelerating onto the highway, and almost every time I am braking at a stop sign or light, creating a potentially dangerous situation because the truck did not respond as expected when I needed predictable acceleration, propulsion, or deceleration. I believe this incident may be related to the known 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve problem. Ford technical information identifies axial movement of the CDF sleeve that can cause hydraulic-circuit leaks and harsh or delayed engagement and shifting. This condition can result in slipping, RPM flares, delayed engagement, unexpected gear changes, harsh downshifts, lurching, or loss of propulsion. This is a safety concern, not merely a transmission quality or reliability issue. Unexpected loss of propulsion or unpredictable shifting while merging, accelerating into traffic, crossing an intersection, turning, traveling at highway speeds, slowing down, and stopping, can create a collision hazard. Because I personally experienced this unexpected transmission event, I request that NHTSA investigate the 10R80 CDF clutch-cylinder/sleeve condition in Ford F-150s. Please review Ford warranty claims, dealer repair records, transmission replacements, consumer complaints, and field-failure data to determine whether this is a safety defect requiring a recall. I believe owners should not have to wait for a potentially dangerous transmission failure before this known condition is addressed.

when i go to accelerate (not every time) (random times) from a near stop during a yielding situation, engine power hesitates to come back on. I've been nearly rear ended twice entering onto highways because of it. i have an appointment Friday with a dealership but they said that they may not be able to do anything for it...im reporting this because that is not acceptable behavior from a dealership. its a safety issue and its under warranty....FIX IT!! when this issue happens i can have the pedal full pressed and it takes several second for the engine to wake up from switching from electric to gas..(im only able to move 1 to 3 MPH)..or if i want it to snap out of it sooner i rapidly press the accelerator in and out multiple times....both ways eventually kicks the engine power back on lunging the truck forward.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, making a right turn and coming to a stop, the check engine and Forward Collision Avoidance warning light were deactivated, and the traction control warning light and other system failure warning lights were illuminated. The contact attempted to depress the brake pedal; however, the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact coasted down the street and drifted and parked the vehicle. The contact attempted to accelerate; however, after depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact drifted and stopped and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the electronic brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and opened a case. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 22,075.

This happens every time I have lane keeping assist turned on and cruise control activated. The truck will periodically pull all the way to the right of the lane, to the point that the tires are on the right line and I am looking down the center of the lane. The more I fight to keep the truck in the center of the lane, the more it pulls to the right. The only way to stop this, other than disabling lane keeping, is to let the truck wander over to the right while barely touching the steering wheel. It will eventually return to the center of the lane. The dashboard graphics show a blue circle around the truck to indicate that the truck is in the center of the lane. When too far to the edge, it will change to show you are not centered. At no time while the truck is pulling to the right does the truck indicate it is out of position. Therefore, even though I am correctly centered in the lane, both by my own observation and the truck's indication, the system still pulls the truck to the right. This appears to be a systemic issue with the system. Here is a post from 2021 where someone is complaining about the same behavior: [XXX] This is a safety issue because: 1) It is fatiguing to have the system on and have to constantly fight it to keep the truck centered in the lane. On frequent 10-hour trips, I have to turn it off because it is adding to my fatigue and workload, even though I would like the benefit of proper lane keeping. 2) I can turn off the system but then I get no driver assistance when I actually drift in the lane. 3) This is most an issue when passing a vehicle in the right lane and the truck veers towards that vehicle. Again I have to fight the truck to not steer into adjacent vehicles. The Ford dealer has diagnosed the system and found no issues or software updates. Intended breaking at Highway speeds. On [XXX] in PA and [XXX] in PA and MD. On several occasions the adaptive speed control dramatically slowed the vehicle for no apparent reason. The dash showed a speed limit change when there was no sign indicating a change. Several times the change was from 65+mph to 35 mph. The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the parking aide sensor alert sounded. The contact stated the vehicle continued to function normally although the part holding the sensor was detached. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear parking aid sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While backing out of a parking spot, the screen with the rearview camera froze. I was not aware the screen had frozen and continued to back up believing I was seeing what was behind me. Fortunately, there was no accident. The screen remained frozen until I stopped the vehicle and cycled the engine.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford F-150 Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Forward Collision Avoidance system warning light illuminated. While driving in the sun at various speeds, the vehicle drifted towards the ditch while there are no other vehicles nearby. The radio was inoperable. The trailer disconnected message was displayed without a trailer being connected to the vehicle. After it rained or after the vehicle was washed, the vehicle was slow to start and went into Accessory mode. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who informed the contact that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer again; the failure was due to the camera system and the sun. The contact stated that water and sunlight were causing the failure, and water was entering the connectors, but the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer contacted the Ford engineer in his State, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer called the manufacturer’s engineers at Headquarters, who were unable to determine the cause of the failure and informed the dealer to replace unknown parts. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I started the truck and safety systems all shut down: BLIS, Lane Keeping, Reverse Sensing, Advance Track, Rear Cross, Forward Collision...everything failed. It even turned my steering wheel to the right so it was not straight. I drove for about three miles, while stopped at a light a message said something about steering calibration and it straightened my steeling wheel to be back where is was supposed to be. The safety system shutdown has happened on three different dates.
