2024 Ford F-350 Sd Driver assistance Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the driver-assistance system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Driver assistance reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

This is truck number two of two trucks with the same issue. I purchased 2, 2024 F350 Super Duty's for our Highway Dept. The camera systems on both trucks failed. This includes the backup camera and forward facing camera. I found a recall notice (24S66) for this exact problem affecting 2024 F350's. I brought mine to the dealership and was informed that my VIN was not included in the recall. The repair would cost $1,200. A check of the second trucks VIN was not included either. The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-350 SD. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the 360-degree camera screen failed to display the rearview, and a message stating that the full screen was not available was displayed. The contact stated that the fault was in the middle of the screen display, which failed to display the trailer that was hitched to the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the wiring harness was replaced under an unknown recall. In addition, the contact was informed that the rear-view camera display system had been adjusted; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact was informed that the failure was not a consumer error, and that the failure could not be corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact stated that the dealer contacted the manufacturer for assistance, but the request to cover the repair was denied. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

I purchased this 2024 f350 from Auto Park Ford in Laporte, IN on [XXX] with 94 miles on the truck. It was shipped directly to me and arrived July 21st 2025. Upon taking delivery there were many safety faults present once I drove the vehicle that included loss of power, the vehicle randomly braking by itself, adaptive cruise control faults, cross traffic faults, blind spot warning faults, forward collision faults, rear cross traffic faults, rusty engine components as well as other rusty components on the vehicle. These safety defects in manufacturing materials, workmanship, improper storage by the selling dealer, and selling of a defective vehicle to me has put myself and my family in an unsafe vehicle. The vehicle has been at the local Ford service center since July 22nd 2025 with the service department stating there is no fix for these issues and is a known issue by Ford. My safety and my family's safety has been put at risk by the vehicle's loss of power, random braking applications, and rusty engine components. These issues were confirmed by Pierre Ford of Lynnwood service department. The repair report states "VERIFIED WARNING FAULTS PRESENT. SELF TEST NUMEROUS DTC'S PRESENT IN ABS MOD. C0051 PPT Q Q1 YES, Q2 NO YO23A FOUND SSM 53892 STIIDING THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE WITH NO FIX CURRENTLY. UPDATED ABS MODULE AND AWD MODULE ROAD TESTED DTC'S CAME BACK". the service center informed me that I could come pick up the truck and there may be a fix in the future. I asked them to keep the truck as it's a major safety concern for myself and my family to operate this truck with all the safety faults, loss of power, random braking, etc. The vehicle will have been at the dealer 21 days by Monday 8/11/25. I have contacted Ford about this issue and requested a buyback, vehicle replacement, a fix, and have gotten no where. I have submitted a lemon law buy back claim because of the many safety issues, but they have put my claim on pause for an addition 30 days. New SAFTEY ISSUE  ....  At about 670 miles on the odometer, the cruise control is acting up, Set cruise control to any speed and within less than a minute it jumps up to another value. I.E. set at 45mph, jumps to 61. Set at 50 mph, it jumps to 61. At 70 mph setting it goes to 86mph!.  Replicated this many times today (12/18/2024). It didn't make any difference between Normal, ECO or Tow/HAUL MODES. Testing further demonstrates that the cruise will step up as above after engaging and if you let it run by itself it will make a second jump then a third to 86MPH! Needless to say I didn't check to see what it would do if it hit 86mph!! Not safe to operate. Other than above the cruise had been working fine. BTW, it did matter if lane departure was on or off either as a note. As late as today 12/30/2024 the cruise control continues to act as above. I have not done a factory reset to the sync 4 system either. Will leave that to the dealer. The vehicle is going into the dealer 12/31/2024

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Lane Keeping Assistance. It is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When Lane Keeping Assistance is engaged the truck steers the truck off-center to the right, uncomfortably to the right. At times it's riding the right lane line, but maintains at least twice as much distance on the left as the right and up to no distance on the right. While the system is engaged, I am continually fighting the steering input to correct it to the left. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I reported the problem to MacHaik Ford, the one service advisor I spoke had not heard of the issue. Forums online indicate the problem is present on 2024 models but not prior to 2024; other owners of 2024 SuperDuty trucks have commented that their vehicle also over-corrects to the right. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. I reported the issue to Ford Customer Service over the phone today (2nd day of ownership), have not heard back from Ford yet. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning signals.

Within the first 200 miles of ownership i noticed the truck pulls right and is difficult to steer left with the lane assist control switched off. The dealership i bought it from has replaced the electric motor which controls the lane assist and has performed 2 alignments. The dealership stated Ford instructed them to change the steering motor, the condition still exists. The dealership then stated other trucks on their lot act the same way and according to Ford if more then 2 trucks act this way it is a condition of the truck's design. I have request a Ford engineer update the software on the truck because older models do not act this way. I am concerned the situation can worsen and the truck can drive off the road or the electric motor will over heat from trying to correct all the time. The truck has been at the dealership since 6/28/2024.

It is hard to explain to people and some people might not fully understand what they are even feeling if they are not in tune to how the steering system works normally vs with some type of assist. I don't use the lane keeping assist (button on steering wheel) because it is not comfortable for me where the truck wants to be in relation to the lane. But even with lane keep assist off i could feel different amounts of "intervention" occurring. First i described it as the input force required to turn the steering wheel either direction was different. Like it would be super easy to turn right but took lots of effort to turn left. So my dealer also replaced the steering assist motor. Then i felt like the issue just inverted and was easy to turn left but hard to turn right. But as i have already put almost 7,000 miles on it i have become more in tune to what is happening. It is most affected on roads with a high crown and it is attempting to counteract the crown in the road but is not quick with making adjustments so if you are in the far left lane with a crown to the left and you change lanes to the center lane with no crown it will have a heavy pull to the right for about 30 seconds or more then can sometimes level itself back out but it is super tiring to drive this truck on the road for long periods of time. But yesterday i had a breakthrough. I went into the center radio screen under the Driver Assistance, In Pre-Collision Assist and turned off the Evasive Steering Assist. BAM FIXED There is no pulling or pushing and the input force required to turn left and right is equal. So this did at least confirm the issue is some level of intervention is happening that should not be.
