What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2008 Ford Fusion, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
I had the Ford brake recall work completed in 2023, but the same brake issue has returned. This appears to be the same HCU problem covered by the recall, and Ford is now refusing to repair it. I am concerned because this is a serious safety issue, and the recall repair did not permanently correct the problem.
I have been having issues with my 2008 ford fusion. I did research and found that the is a Ford customer satisfaction program( campaign # 21N11) which also goes along with recall number 19S54 and ford is refusing to fix the issues. Their lots of complaints and somethingd needs to be done ASAP before someone gets hurt cause this has to do with the brakes.

Door handle is stuck/broken. Door cannot open from the inside or outside. Passengers are stuck in car.
I want to file a safety complaint against Ford car company for their vehicle in which I purchased which is a 2008 Ford Fusion SEL for excessive and dangerous rot and rust problem on the frame and suspension and under component which can lead to accidents if one of these components fall apart . I purchased a 2008 Ford fusion SEL in Connecticut which used to be a Massachusetts state government vehicle before I've obtained it. It was well maintenance and had no flood damage. But just like a wide range of cars from Ford especially this model that I've purchased has a serious problem with excessive rust which make the car very dangerous to drive. Mind's speaking I've had to have framework done to my vehicle and change multiple suspension parts because of all the rust my transmission pan literally fell apart and all the oil came because it was so rusted. My stabilizer links and control arms have fell apart in which obstructs the steering which also caused a safety hazard for me and other people on the road. Ford has a duty to design their cars with a certain level of weather resistance. After doing research I found that there is a wide range of customers who's having the same having the same problems with this year make and model just like other vehicles that are made by ford. All the problems that stated in this complaint having verified by ASE certified mechanics that I've been working on my vehicle. The contact stated all the original metal components like control arms, tie rods, suspension shocks and struts and frame all have a issue with rot rust and corrosion which led to vehicles having alignment issues.

The dealership denies hearing anything , Ford denies hearing anything, even though it's happening all over the country and I found at least five other complaints listed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administratiion. I took car in for oil change and discovered this but want $250 for repair and no guarantee it won't happen again. I'm a senior with limited income and it's a 2008 Ford fusion SE HELP NEED RECALL!

MY AIR BAGS ARE TURNED OFF AND SO FAR NO DEALER SAID THEY CAN FIX THE AIR BAGS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. MY PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT BUCKLE AND FORD REFUSED TO FIX IT UNLESS I PAID A 300.00 PRICE. I TOOK IT TO BELL TIRE AND THEY PUT A NEW ONE IN FOR MUCH LESS. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE PAID ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO HAD TO PUT 5 BATTERIES IN MY CAR BECAUSE THE WOULD BE TOTALLY DEAD. THE LAST ONE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY I HAD TO PAY FOR. YEAR 2017. I TOLD THEM TO DC MY AUTOMATIC STARTER BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT FOR SEVERAL YRS. IT MIGHT BE THAT AND IT WAS. IN THE MEAN TIME I PAID FOR AN ALTANATER I DID NOT NEED. PAID OUT A LOT OF MONEY TO THE DEALER THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY. I HAVE ALL THE BILLS FOR ALL THE YEARS. ALL STARTED IN 2010WITH THE BATTERY WHICH I BOUGHT WHEN THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER LEASE. I BOUGHT THE CAR AND TO DATE THE MILES ARE JUST GOING TO 36,000
I BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE AIRBAG AND SELT BELTS SINCE AUGUST 2017.I RECEIVE A RECALL IN THE MAIL LETTING ME KNOW THAT MY AIRBAG IN MY CAR IS BEEN RECALL.

WHEEL STUDS ARE TWISTING OFF AND STRETCHING WHEN PUTTING THE LUG NUTS BACK ON AT THE RECOMMENDED TORQUE OF 98 LBS. STUDS APPEAR SOFT. I SEE FORD HAD ISSUES ON THE 2010-2011 FUSION AND MILANS. APPEARS TO BE SAME ISSUE. MANY STUDS CAN ONLY BE TORQUED TO 80 LBS. SERVICE PROVIDED BY THEISENS SERVICE CENTER IN DYERSVILLE IA. THAT VERY WEEK THEISENS HAD A 2007 FORD FUSION IN WITH THE VERY SAME ISSUE. HMMM SOUNDS LIKE A VERY VALID CONCERN.
2008 FORD FUSION. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ALL WEATHER FLOOR MAT ISSUES WITH ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE DID NOT USE RUBBER FLOOR MATS IN HER VEHICLE. HOWEVER, ON JULY 25, 2012 SHE EXPERIENCED A FRIGHTENING SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHEN SHE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND THEN TO DRIVE. SHE NOTICED SOME UNUSUAL MOVEMENT AS SHE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THEN TO DRIVE, THERE WAS DEFINITELY UNWANTED ACCELERATION. SHE WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND TURNED IT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FLOOR MATS WERE NOT IN THE WAY OF THE ACCELERATOR WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY, DUE TO LOW VOLTAGE CODES AND IT WAS EXPLAINED TO HER, THE BATTERY WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK TIRES, TIRE LINE: KINERGY GT, TIRE SIZE: 225/45/R18. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRES EXPERIENCED SIDEWALL BUBBLING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. VIN NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED A SET OF 4 NITTO MOTIVO TIRES SIZE 225/45ZR18XL WITH THE TOP RATING (Y) WITH A 60,000 MILE WARRANTY, DOT # 73J7 L6K4213 ON MARCH 12, 2014 AT DISCOUNT TIRE FOR MY 2008 FORD FUSION. MY VEHICLE AT THE TIME HAD 91,602 MILES ON IT AND TODAY HAS JUST OVER 107,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING THROUGH TOWN WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 30 AND HEARD A LOUD POP NOISE. THE SIDE WALL OF THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY PULL TO THE LEFT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, LOST CONTROL, AND SMASHED INTO THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER AND PUSHED THE VEHICLE INTO A CURB THUS TOTALING MY CAR AND PROBABLY THE OTHER VEHICLE AS WELL AT NOON TODAY JULY 30, 2014. THE POLICE REPORT REFLECTS MECHANICAL FAILURE AS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT AND I HAVE WITNESS STATEMENTS FROM A COUPLE THAT WERE TRAVELING BEHIND MY VEHICLE THAT THEY, TOO, HEARD A LOUD POP JUST PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. I CONTACTED DISCOUNT TIRE AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IN THE WHEEL, TIRE, AND PICTURES AND THEY WOULD FORWARD MY INFORMATION TO NITTO SO THAT THEY CAN START A CLAIM. NITTO DID NOT ANSWER THEREFORE I WAS GIVEN THE PHONE NUMBER AND I WILL TRY TO CONTACT THEM TOMORROW. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MY CONSUMER RIGHTS ARE AS FAR AS GETTING THE COST OF MY VEHICLE, THE OTHER VEHICLE, MEDICAL BILLS, TOWING COSTS, AND TIME LOSS AND SUFFERING PAID. THIS IS SIMPLY UNFAIR AND I AM ANGRY THAT A DEFECT DUE TO THEIR TIRE HAS NOW COST ME A LOSS OF MY CAR AND NEITHER MY INSURANCE OR I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY. *TR

I TOOK MY FUSION IN FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL. THE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED AND NOW THE DASH IS SLIGHTLY RAISED UP AND LOOKS LIKE THE AIRBAG IS GOING TO BLOW OUT OF IT ANYTIME. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS TURNING ON AND OFF RANDOMLY. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE AIRBAG AND THEY SAY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT THEY DID. SO NOW I DO NOT KNOW IF MY CAR IS SAFE OR NOT TO BE DRIVING.
