2000 Ford Motor Home Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Ford Motor Home, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

2000 FORD E-350 RV WITH SPEED CONTROL RECALL. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE REPAIR HAS YET TO BE MADE AND HE RECEIVED THE RECALL IN SEPTEMBER 2007. THE DEALER KEPT TELLING HIM THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE IN WITHIN 2 TO 3 WEEKS. THE PARTS NEVER CAME. *KB THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE PART WAS AVAILABLE, BUT THE CONSUMER HAD TO OBTAIN FORD'S RELEASE LETTER. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD AND HE WAS TOLD THE PART WOULD NOT BE READY UNTIL JULY 2008.*JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD MOTOR HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V336000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME FROM THE DEALER. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF, THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE HARNESS AGAIN, ALONG WITH AN ADAPTER. WHEN THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED, THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE WIRES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PISTON STUCK IN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE BRAKE SYSTEM AND CAUSED FLUID TO LEAK. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE A FREE REPAIR. THERE WAS NO BRAKE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 14,557.

HEAVY RAIN,DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT TIME,ENGINE BREATHER TUBE AND FILTER IN FRONT OF RADIATOR SUCKED UP WATER IN LARGE AMOUNTS CAUSING THE FILTER ELEMENT TO COLLASPE AND RESTRICT AIR INTAKE TO THE ENGINE,CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER AND ENGINE RPM. STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. I BELIEVE THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IF CAUGHT ON THE ROAD DURING ANY RAIN STORM. A CALL TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER CAUSED THEM TO SEARCH FOR A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM,TO OTHER GEORGETOWN MOTOR HOMES ON FORD CHASSIS AND FOUND NONE. HE INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID HAVE A MODIFICATION KIT FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AVAILABLE AND THAT THEY WOULD INSTALL IT FOR ABOUT $250.00 OR SO. I OF COURSE HAD INSTALLED TO AVOID ANY MORE PROBLEMS. I BELIEVE THAT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT BY FORD OR THE MOTOR HOME ASSEMBLER. *TR
