What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2014 Forest River Freedom Express, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WAS PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY LEFT REAR WHEEL FELL OVER AND REAR SUSPENTION SHACKEL RIPPED OUT OF FRAME HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE TEMP WELD IT TO GET IT OUT OF ROAD
PASSENGER SIDE SPRING HANGAR ON REAR AXLE BROKE WHILE BEING TOWED ALLOWING LEAF SPRING TO SHIFT TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND ALLOWING PASSENGER REAR TIRE TO CONTACT THE BODY AND FRAME. TIRE RUBBED TO THE POINT OF FAILURE AND THE TIRE BLEW OUT AND ALLOWED THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE TO PIVOT UP INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE BODY. THIS FAILURE OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON LEVEL, PAVED US HIGHWAY. WHEN THE HANGAR BROKE IT ALLOWED BOTH AXLES TO TWIST UNDER THE TRAILER AND PIVOT TOWARDS THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ALL 5 OF THE REMAINING SPRING HANGARS ARE TWISTED AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. THE AXLES, SPRINGS, EQUALIZERS AND SHACKLES WERE STRESSED TO THE POINT THEY WERE TWISTED UNDER THE TRAILER AND WILL NEED REPLACEMENT BEFORE THE TRAILER IS ROAD WORTHY AGAIN. THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE AS NHTSA 14E052000 14V689000 THIS FAILURE MAY ALSO BE RELATED TO NHTSA 17V611000
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
