2022 Forest River R-Pod Problems

On XXX, the tempered-glass entry door on my 2022 Forest River R-Pod 190 travel trailer (VIN [XXX]) spontaneously shattered while the trailer was parked in [XXX]. The door was open, stationary, and facing the morning sun. No one was touching it, there was no wind or impact, and the door and glass had no prior damage. The failure sounded like a gunshot and projected broken glass onto my neck and back. I was not injured, but if I had been facing the door, the glass could have struck my eyes and caused serious injury. My wife was also inside the trailer near the doorway. The failed component is a Lippert entry-door assembly identified by label as part number V000576073, manufactured XXX. The damaged door, remaining glass, frame, hinges, and hardware have been preserved with tape and cardboard and are available for inspection upon request. The failure has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The door has not been inspected by Forest River, Lippert, police, an insurer, or another representative. Forest River sent my photographs to Lippert, which declined warranty coverage based on the age of the trailer but did not provide a technical cause or safety determination. There were no warning signs, messages, visible cracks, unusual operation, or other symptoms before the glass suddenly shattered. The door and frame had not been adjusted or previously damaged. The contact owns a 2022 Forest River R POD RV being hauled by a 2006 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH and hauling the RV, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the RV braking system failed to respond. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact towed the RV trailer to a local RV dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake failure might have been with the 2006 Ford F-250. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and it was determined that the vehicle and the brakes had operated as designed. The RV braking system was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The RV failure mileage was approximately 50.

Awning was open to dry after rain. When we came home from lunch, the arms were as low as they can be with the awning completely out of its track. We brought it to RV dealership today. They confirmed the fact that there is a recall on the awning itself.
